It looks decent but not 80 cuckland fun bucks decent, I'll wait til it's about 40 or 50 dollars and pick it up as a "chill out and listen to a podcast while you play" game like Minecraft or New Vegas. I have no higher expectations. It'll have to be real shit to disappoint me.

What are you referring to exactly? Oh you mean a game cycle? It doesn't even matter what the tasks are. As long as the game is fun and general you could have as many tasks as you fucking want.

That's like saying WOW is extremely popular because of it's click and point gameplay.

I'm buying No Man's Sky because I love space more than anything, and this concept has NEVER been done before which is why my $60 will be worth spent.

You people are so bitter and cynical, for god's sake this is a completely new genre that no other developer has attempted before. If you don't want to play it don't buy it. You don't have to go on a crusade to persuade others not to buy it.
>>
>>345383758
>and this concept has NEVER been done before
lol
>>
>>345379661
But you don't make up the gameplay yourself, the mission is to get to the centre of the universe, and the whole game is geared towards you accomplishing that.

>>345379861
I agree $60 is pretty steep. I'm not buying it instantly (I don't have a PS4 or good enough PC for one thing). But I wanna play it at some point definitely.

>>345380056
>>345380093
>>345380391
These aren't arguments

>>345380663
No one is telling you to do those things, you can take whatever route you want to get to the centre of the galaxy.

If the game doesn't appeal to you, why are you in this thread?

>>345381060
>literally the only difference from planet to planet is how they look
And the environment, the minerals you can mine there, the suit you will need to survive there, the alien race you will find there to trade with, the ancient runes you will find there, the wormholes you will find, etc.

>>345381114
They've deliberately designed a progression on the journey to the centre of the universe. The planets you start off with will be easier and the later ones will be harder. They've said this in a video.

So it's not just aimless procedural generation. They've put a lot of design into what's generated.

>>345381907
Unfortunately they are.

>>345382017
Yup this is pretty much me really. First thing I will do though is watch videos on release day. Chances are I will then eventually want to get it, for £20 when it costs that much.

>>345382407
Not true

>>345382867
It's not the same thing over and over, there's a deliberately designed progression to the game. If you knew anything about it, you would know this. But clearly you have no fucking clue what you're talking about.

>>345383758

>Minecraft
>Dig straight down until you find diamonds and then hoard resources

>No Man's Sky

Open ended adventure games seem cool until you start seeing the same procedural generation or copy pasted assets over and over again.
>>
>>345379103
>Dont buy the game
>imagine instead.
Saved you $60
>>
>>345379103
I'll never understand why people use trailers and pictures the devs hand out as proof of anything. Devs lie. A fuck ton.

The only evidence you can give to defend any game should be from the ACTUAL released game. Unprettied and unprepared for marketing.
>>
>>345383758
Uh. What is Spore?

At least in Spore YOU got to make an alien on top of all the other randomly generated crap. Come to think of it the object of that game was also to go to the centre of the world.
>>
>>345384151

Creatures get more dangerous as the game goes on. And later in the game is when you discover wormholes to jump through. Stuff like that.

See I think there isn't anything wrong with that, it's inevitable (and people tend to underplay the fact that you WILL get bored of it) but I think charging 60 dollars for the fucking thing is overkill.

20 dollars, maybe.

I'm admittedly kind of interested in being a space bandito, but I'm sure it will go exactly the same way Minecraft did where the combat isn't very fun and the exploration becomes dull and repetitive. The secret at the center of the galaxy will be posted all over /v/ 3 days before launch and will likely just be some kind of warp drive to visit wherever the hell you want. And what's the final verdict on multiplayer? I remember hearing a lot of the "Everyone's connected to the same server but it's unlikely you'll run into anyone" thing, but what if I want to fly around with a friend of mine? Do I need to go full Dark Souls and pray his summon sign will show up for me?

I'm going to get this game simply becasue I rage so easily if I die in a game I quit playing and never touch it again. RTS/RPG's aren't my thing and since I only used to play MMO's and can no longer play due to my work schedule I've been reduced to staring at my screen on off days. Maybe this will bring back my love for games.

That will take effort because you will probably start on the opposite side of the galaxy to your friend. You can see your friends on the galactic map, but you can't warp to them. So the best thing would be if you both travel to the galactic centre first, then you'll be within travelable distance of each other.
