So I just finished this game for the first time. I skipped over it due to the complaints which for the most part I believe are justified. I'd say its biggest sins were the sky overworld being near pointless along with awful flying controls, and being overloaded with way too many fetch quests. I know fetch quests tend to be a big part of Zelda games, but it felt too padded out in this game. I heard there was a lot of backtracking in this game but it didn't particularly bother me since whenever you returned to the surface you often gained access to new areas of that world. What made it feel tediously padded was having to do the tear trials 3 times along with a couple mundane mcguffin hunts just to gain entry access to a dungeon. Overall though, I thought it was an enjoyable ride and definitely had more fun playing it over Twilight Princess.

I got hyped for Zelda after peeking at a BotW trailer and took a dive into SS. What'd /v/ think of this game?
>>
Would've been excusable if it had launched with the Wii. I waited 5 years for this game.

Horrible f-a-m...

Please avoid if you haven't played it and are reading this.
>>
It was alright. It's gonna look like the aborted child next to BotW tough.
>>
It's the best Zelda game. People who hate it are too retarded to set up their motion bar properly.

My playthrough took about 100 hours and I had no issues. Played perfect fine. Story is 10/10. Bosses are 10/10. Dungeons are 10/10. Sandship is literally the best Zelda dungeon. Enemies are 10/10. Side-quests are 10/10. Visuals are 10/10. It's amazing.

Kill yourself twitternigger. I am not, nor anyone else on this shitty board, a part of your degenerate family.

Fi was annoying as fuck, and some of the motion prompts were kind of stupid

Motion+ sword fighting worked fine though, and the game had some really great dungeons and bosses.

Overall I had more fun that I did with Twilight Princess, even if it had most of the same flaws. Try telling that to all the newfags who played TP when they were 10 though.

I don't care about the controls. The dungeons are linear as fuck and every overworld area is just a mini-dungeon which is also linear as fuck. Zelda is supposed to be about exploring and discovery.

Not to mention the upgrade system which is a cool idea but entirely pointless because the game is piss easy. Why would you ever buy a bigger quiver when every enemy that requires arrows will just drop them for you?

>every enemy that requires arrows will just drop them for you?
To fight enemies that don't require arrows.
>>
the motion controls are fucking amzing and easy to use in this game. if you can't handle them, you are literally retarded.
>>
I didn't have problems with the combat controls. I only hated the flying/beetle controls and the fact that arrow pointing didn't use the sensor bar.
>>
>>345378271
What was wrong with the beetle?
>>
>>345380623
It wasn't as bad with the beetle versus loftwing flying specifically. I just found turning my wrist downward to be uncomfortable. Trying to fly straight was more cumbersome than it needed to be.

>Trying to fly straight was more cumbersome than it needed to be.
Because they use the sensor bar for the neutral position, if you aren't pointed at it then the beetle is fucked up.
>>
controls were ok, problems came from its structure and pacing
>the beginning is incredibly dull
>forest area sucks
>moving between areas is more cumbersome than needed
>no one ever shuts the fuck up
>goddess cubes are retarded
>the imprisoned fights simply aren't fun and overstayed their welcome at the second one
>BLEEP BLOOP ESCORT MISSION kys
>coming back to the first dungeon was pointless busywork
>the tadtones
>the volcano stealth section where you lose all your equipment
>there's only two genuinely good dungeons
>npcs suck, new races are awful except the mogmas
>no sense of place, adventure and discovery, feels too gamey
>the final musou section where you fight hordes of enemies devolve into mindless waggling
>girahim is a forgettable faggot
it was a bad zelda and a very average game
>>
>The fucking harp

Nothing could be more annoying and pointless than the, what, 3 harp sections? Why even include it to begin with? It only does one thing and can be a pain to use properly.
>>
>yfw you realise botw is developed by the same team that made this

Weakest 3D Zelda game, but still solid.

My main complaints:
Sky world was barren as fuck, why the hell were there not more little islands like WW to explore?
Handholding is fine, but Fie literally never shuts the fuck up, and you can't really skip shit.
I also hate revisiting areas over and over.
Those dream spooky sequences to get the MS powered up also suck.
Combat and controls of course sometimes don't work perfectly, but that is par for the course with motion controls.

Otherwise it has some major strengths.
Amazing visuals
Amazing OST
Amazing, creative areas
Some of the best dungeons in the series
Some fantastic boss'
Creative uses for items, upgrading items very cool
Story and Characters are some of the best in the series
Motion controls, when they work, they fucking work. It can be really damn cool.
Peppermint kiss.
Nice side quests.

Yea, solid game. I just wish some of the annoyances were not there, I would replay it more. I don't even want to bring up the imprisoned. I legit get PTSD thinking about it, and whenever I get the urge to replay I have to consider him first.
Also I hated Ganon being final baddy again. I know it's origin story, but I was already annoyed at him being in TP, I really just wanted Peppermint to be the big bad, and maybe at the end he unleashes a evil that attaches itself to people across time or something to explain ganon being an asshole.

Two things I'll never understand about /v/
