I know I'm in the minority on this, but I didn't like her ending too much because I felt she came off too much as your typical waifu. It was sweet and it made sense for her character after all she's been through, but I ended up liking some other endings better, such as Popo's.Veronica's ending was the best for the WTF factor.

Rusty + Nonoka break the game as usual. Mostly everyone eventually does in NG+ since you unlock their skills very quickly by raising affinity. You also get more EXP so battles shouldn't be a worry. If you skip story scenes you'll be able to redo the whole game in like eight hours.

Finished it literally just yesterday, really, really damn good game with an amazing amount of polish (seeing each character have different voice lines for each situation was crazy)
The plot sucks a bit at first with Hilda's "You're doing something wrong, but I'll neeeever tell you why..." nonsense, but it ended up being a lot better justified than I expected and the fact that her own plan wasn't a solution either was good.
Honestly the only complaints I have are that the final battles drag on like crazy and that there's surprisingly no Harem ending for NG+, it feels like the game is perfect for it, but no dice.
Still, Lisette's ending is fucking hilarious. Her arguing with her mother while trying to seduce Alto was just...something else.

Not with how goddamn slow the turn order and movement in battle are. And the final boss being such a damage sponge makes the battle itself take a good hour.

In terms of utility? I found myself pretty much only using Levia or To The Sea by endgame. Needed the full heals and/or cleanse to handle the bosses damage
Is this the type of game that's pretty much waifu-bait or is it a good game that doesn't rely on it ALL the time?

Not really? Each form of the final boss took like fifteen minutes for me on an NG+. And while enemy turns take long, the battlefields throughout the game barring the first two in the final chapter are small enough to make battles still go by rather quickly, at least for my srpg standards.

I think it's a genuinely good game where the waifus are just an added point. There's a demo of the prologue on the eShop if you'd like a taste, although what you do in it gameplaywise is pretty limited compared to later on.

It's the former. The gameplay is serviceable but by the end it gets quite tedious. The story isn't great because much of it is lifted wholesale from other works and mashed together to form SG's plot.
It mainly gets by on strong characters and okay music. And waifu-ing comes in when every character has free time events and an ending. You can have husbandos too.

I couldn't make Mordi useful at all. Even with a Portal ring she was too slow to get to the action and did such little damage anyway.

Sakuya was the best damage dealer without a doubt though. Hilda's Darkhale was close. My tactic for the final bosses were to basically just let Sakuya spam Tempest Strike or whatever it was called for ez 500 damage.

Played it. The actual core game play is super basic. The plot gets really boring for long stretches and finally picks up just about when you're ready to chuck it. The game isn't grindy except when it is; bosses love level checking you at the most inopportune moments.
The English voice acting is absolutely top notch. Even with the most anime of lines, they deliver with the most amazing conviction.
The game is playable, but I would be hard pressed to recommend it. In general, 2015 was a sad year for JRPGs on the 3DS. Lord of Magna was a disaster from a design and pacing standpoint. Legend of Legacy tried to hard to copy it's inspiration and unintentionally copied what they did wrong as well.
