Remember when people used to think rumble was dumb and now it is a standard controller feature?
>>
Remember when people used to think PS3 had no games? Now it's a Sony standard.
>>
not really I was 10 when that shit came out and it was boss.
>>
I thought rumble was the coolest thing at first, but the novelty wore off for me. At first, it felt like I was really in the game. Rumble, combined with Star Fox 64, holy shit it really felt like we were in the future, that games were becoming something so much more.

I always thought it was dumb until I played Assetto Corsa with a DS4. It's gotten so much better. No more violently rattling controllers.
>>
No i'm pretty sure the fact that you had to switch out your controller pak for the rumble pak when your game started and then back again when you wanted to save is what people found dumb
>>
I thought it was dumb then and I think it's dumb now. I always turn it off.

i'm so glad we moved on from that

Rumble Pak has the best rumble. When you hit something in the game, it actually feels like you hit something and the vibration is traveling through your hands. In other controllers, it's just a light shake.

Nintendo is always the best the first time they do something.

N64 is the best console.
Wiimote is the best motion controller ever released (with Motion+).
Breath of the Wild has the best physics engine ever made and is Nintendo's first foray into that field. Despite the competition having 20 years of experience ahead of them. Hot dang that makes me so mad. The west sucks at making games. Did you know that the term "snake oil" was only retroactively applied to the Chinese? The historical origin of the word, comes from America attempting to mimic Chinese holistic medicine and pitching it as miracle cures. It was in fact, the western world that gave commercialism a bad rep.
>>
>he doesn't immediately go to OS settings and disable rumble
>>

And now it's somehow gotten popular while getting even more dumb.
>>
I always thought rumble was dumb and I still think it's dumb
>>
>>345366462
Is it bad I kinda miss it? The thick click clacks and snaps were so satisfying.
>>
It's still dumb and I would wish controllers didn't have it if that meant they were cheaper and used up less battery. And it would mean that.

I made a masturbation device out of the ps2 controller's rumble thing once, though.
>>
>>345365823
I still disable rumble on all my controllers. I've actually just ripped them out of my xbone controller because they are heavy.

Remember when people thought touchscreens were a bad idea when now every fucking piece of technology you can fit in your pocket has one now?

I still don't like it.

>N64 is the best console.
You mean SNES.
>>

Stylus should have had a string attached to the unity. Everyone I knew lost the damn thing at one point or another.

I didn't.

I put string.

I pretty much always used my finger for that kind of thing. Also, I hate how the original 3ds has a cool stylus while every other has a plastic one.

None of what you said is true and is all based on nostalgia. The DS4 has a much better rumble and works with more games without having to have extra batteries for the rumbling feature.

The N64 has less than 30 notably good games. It's not even the best Nintendo console. SNES had more great games overall.

Wiimote is quickly being replaced as the best motion controller by shit like Vive hands.

Breath of the Wild definitely does not have the best physics engine. Many things in the game are pretty wonky such as tree logs. Nintendo has created physics engines for literally every single game they have created, unless it's a collaboration in which another company would supply such engine.

Nintendo itself technically has the most experience right now and isn't utilizing it at all because you can't transfer skills like that to different engines whenever a new console is released.

West is great at making games and you're just blinded by thinking your a special Jap snowflake.

Commercialism is in general a bad thing. It gets rid of quality just to make more money. I don't see how that could have had a good rep.
>>
rumble is kinda cool i guess, but i had the rumble pak and when it was plugged in it made the controller stupidly heavy and imbalanced weight-wise

Good times were had on /v/.
>>
>>345367238
just open up your controller and pull the motors out

the only controllers that are difficult to disassemble are dualshocks but even then getting them back together only takes a little bit more effort than others.
>>
>>345366728
It's still dumb. There aren't any good games and you can't play games on emulators with a damn touch screen.
>>
Any games where rumble actually did something worthwhile? I can only think of splinter cell with that thing where it would warn you about traps.
>>
>>345368885
>Commercialism is in general a bad thing

It also endorses the competition to keep up. The reason you think it's bad is because you live in the West like me, where all we do is consume regardless of quality; and fuel that mind-set.

See: t. Western Gaming.
>>
>>345368885
Are you implying the DS4 has good battery life? Because it's far from decent.
>>
>>345368885

Most systems don't really have 30 notable games. 30 good games yes, but anything other than CoD and FIFA is basically unknown to the general public. This does not necessarily make a system bad though. PS1 was much the same. Most people don't know shit about Suikoden, they played Modern Warfare, Crash, and some Twisted Metal.

Also, the Vive is shit. Motion detection on that thing sucks balls.
>>
>>345370269
I was speaking in a relative sense. Technically you could just plug it in while playing because the N64 also has wires.

>>345369882
It endorses competition to just copy what they're doing and end up creating a cycle of shit. I don't buy things when they're bad just because people are telling me to, that's not just a western thing. That's just peer pressure and it exists everywhere.

>>345370532
I didn't mean notable in the sense where a casual would know what it was. I meant games that were praised. At the time the Playstation simply had way more good games compared to the N64. N64 had one of the smallest amounts of good games but it's praised like it had the most simply because of nostalgia.
The Wiimote was still an extremely simple motion controller regardless.
>>
The Rumble Pack is an awful peripheral. Rumble was only meaningful when paired with dual analog sticks.

It is still dumb.
>>
>>345367872
I didn't because I wasn't an autistic kid that couldn't take care of his things. Let my friend borrow it once though and he lost it immediately. Also broke the touch screen, the hinge, the gameboy port, scuffed up every surface on it, made the buttons stick, and tore off the stickers on the back. What a nigger. That was a real life lesson for me.
