Physical sports exist on an entirely different level (soccer is a physical sport and intellectual depth is never a part of the ordeal where as speedrunning spits on the medium, particularly if it's a game with aesthetic depth or an intricate story and so on) though there are some similarities in the type of mania and tunnelvision involved.
Speedruns are only good if you've played the game already. I know that playing Ocarina of Time blindfolded is impressive but I never had an N64 so I can't really appreciate it
