He's trying to go off in a different direction but not too far away that people won't recognize it (which is why I think Funtime Foxy and Freddy are there). I don't know, as long as it stays fresh then I'm fine with it personally. Like you said the story with the purple guy should be over, so no need to continue on with it. Springtrap is possibly still alive, but no need to explain every single key point about him.

I love this shot. it's great in-game because what with all the static and darkening visual effects, it's really hard to tell what Foxy even looks like before he jumpscares you. he's just this abstract mass of teeth and eyes and claws when he's just lurking in the shadows like that.
