Following the results for the 'final' Splatfest, Callie and Marie will introduce the NX, the Nintendo Epoch, alongside some images of Breath of the Wild, Retro's new IP 'Alethea,' Star Fox 02, Pikmin 4, and some details on Splatoon 2's single player campaign, which is much more in depth this time around. You also get a date for the next Nintendo Direct, July 31st, with a more in depth explanation then, with a number of new games, both for Wii U and NX, to be revealed.

Nintendo wants to start pumping out flagship games much more frequently. Zero was built to be easy to adapt into sequels.
It's actually been in development since the delay. One of the reasons it was pushed back was so that Nintendo could highlight just how quickly they could put out a high quality sequel. This is also why Miyamoto is so pissed at idiots bitching about the controls.

The sequel involves a new star system and villains (Some kind of lizards) so yeah... the idea that it's going to be a repeat of Star Fox 64 again is untrue.
