We were discovering near the end of it's life that Vanilla was fundamentally broken. Anybody with a fireball had an easy to set up unblockable Ultra, Akuma's DF OS SRK, stretchy arms Seth, and all kinds of true infinites.
The problem with the core gameplay is 8 frames. The game is perfectly serviceable otherwise. The shitty release and slow development post release is what everybody was angry about.

Street fighter V focused on the fighting game scene, which is a GOOD thing. Normies and casuals need to fuck right off, and Capcom has done just that. Whether it was financially the correct thing to do or not is irrelevant, the community is thriving. Top 8 is consistently a ton of different characters. Balance has been absolutely based.
This has been one of the best launches, and /v/ despises it because /v/ doesn't even fucking play fighting games. Fighting games are the one genre people can't just shit post because it requires hundreds of hours to understand, and people who spout shit are immediately shat on for their misinformed opinions.
