With the previous games, the game was open enough so that you could plot an optimal course for your build. Like, if you wanted to play a certain style, and you knew where to find the spells/weapons/materials to build your style, then you would think,
>"alright I need to go here first to get thit ring, there second to get the material, so when I go over there I can upgrade the weapon toe +10 before I visit that place"
But now the game is so linear, you just have no agency. You always run into the same equipment in the same order.

>have to collect all the npcs, covenant items and quest lines every single time
i just wanna blaze through the early boring parts, but i never know if i'll need or want the npcs, covenants or quest items at some point so i always feel the need to grab them every time just in case. You can't even skip all of them and do them later because certain events will end their quest lines completely and you'll have to do a new playthrough to get whatever you missed that time.
