What's this version like? When I played (not too long ago) charge rifles and sniper rifles were supreme, autoturrets basically trivialized the entire game to the point of being cheating, trading was pretty crappy, and there wasn't an awful lot else to do other than building the space ship.

I've actually had the pirates start a raid, and then I brought them back into a trader caravan full of guns and high tech stuff when I was doing my tribal campaign. Within the first 2 months I was equipped with and lmg and other guns.
Shame I lost my base to a fucking molotov spammer.

Yes, just put the chairs where they would "stand" while working at any workshop and it will fill their comfort need as they work.

It's more effective on workshops like art stations where they have to work on the same project for ages, though it's still effective on ovens where they have to keep running to get materials as long as the materials are close-by.

Dealing with sieges:

Few pawns with shields to attract enemy fire, few pawns sniper rifles to kill enemy snipers. I usually destroy the siege before they even finish building mortars.
