Steam is just a rental service. You signed up for it when you made your account.
>>
>>345311818
You'd have to pirate every game you owned. There'd be literally millions doing it, it'd be unprosecutable.
Or a class action lawsuit.

Hard to believe when you look back.

I believe the user agreement states that you'll receive all the games on the account as drm-free versions of the game.

Gabe also promised that to be the escape plan
>>
>>345312140
That's only for Valve games, it would be up to the publishers for other games.
>>
>>345312109
I think it was around 2005-2006 when people started finding out about Steam on Windows XP.
Literally everyone on 4chan thought shit sux and muh boxed games CD/DVDsss!!11 lulz
I wish I saved those threads.
Good laughs.

Is anyone actually worried about losing their steam games one day?
>>
>>345312646

Never know what can happen. What if 10 years down the road video game streaming becomes the next big thing?
>>
>>345311818
It's probably written or implied in the TOS.

You should really be archiving cracks for any games you really care about. Don't trust "The Cloud." You have no idea whether you'll be able to find a specific crack in the future unless the game is very popular.
>>
>>345312505

Has literally nothing to do with OP's post.
>>
>>345312646
Most people who care about thinking that far ahead have already decided against going the Steam route for most of their games. I mean they may have some toss away things but not the hundreds some maniacs have.
>>
>>345312837
The point being that 4chan thought Steam was going to epic fail.
But 4chan is never wrong.
How strange is that?
>>
>>345312987
Steam was epic fail. It destroyed PC gaming with the birth of the "Steampleb"
>>
Well you know what they say. If a cat dies its dead forever unless it has 9 lives in which case the cat has haxs and has to be perma B&.

No,there isn't another PC Platform that can hold a candle to Steam right now. When an actually decent Platform comes out I'll be worried.

>>
>>345312862
since the 2012 TOS change they're selling you limited licenses that can be revoked any time.
Going back to OP, this means you can say goodbye to your vidya without any legal consequence for valve.
The screen especially gives out the attitude vlave has for the matter: i.e. dont care for your library

Don't be daft.

Gaben has said they would unlock the games if that happened.
Plus it wouldn't be hard for someone to create a library system that mimics steam and allows access

Steam isn't exactly denuvo in terms of drm

The same thing that happens with every digital game, you don't own it for real. There's a reason why there is a large group of people who complain about the modern gaming industry.

>2016
>paying for games that you won't even own a physical copy of, much less a manual, box, map and catalog
>paying to download something that you can just download from somewhere else for free

>>
>>345314328
If the service fails how is he gonna distribute the stuff?

We can argue about this all day long but physical > digital in terms of ownership and actually getting something for your money.

You can say all the shit you want about digital being "library available anywhere" and "disc can't get scratched" but all that shit is available free on torrents anyways. If you pay for digital downloads you are a cuck and you need to shut the fuck up.
>>
>>345314535

Shit man you just made me want to pirate something.
>>
>>345314945
The problem isn't that we want to pirate stuff per se though, it's more that we want to buy the game, and have it be good quality and come with all the extras and know we won't be locked out of content or shilled for extra money.

And we would know that we can re-sell or lend the game to someone when we're done with it.

Companies like it this way, as each person has to pay for their own copy and can't lend it to others. It's the same reason they don't make local multiplayer anymore. Why have 4 people playing 1 game when you can make them each buy a console and game of their own and then charge them $5 a month to play with each other.
>>
>>345315449
When I said like it this way I mean the current (shitty) market.
>>
>>345314328
>Gaben has said they would unlock the games if that happened.

>>
>>345315449

Or I could just pirate the game.. too late already torrented witcher 3
>>
>>345313816
If 90% of PC games are pirated why the fuck do new games only have a couple thousand seed/leech?

How is that
If you buy any digital game without drm you can just copy it to any hdd or burn it to a disc and have the same thing as physical
