I actually don't dislike either unit outright but I think they could be a lot better. Ravagers are neat but their full potential is almost never met at a pro level. Like I only see one in 5 matches that someone lands a bile on a moving target.
How did BW go so right? Did they just get lucky? 15 years with no patches and it's still fine.
Original (non-BW) SC was horribly imbalanced so I don't know how to explain how they got it so right with BW

Brood War is the product of a community that loved the game. Every single map is carefully balanced so vanilla things aren't overpowered.
If not for the community, 99.9% of interest would have died out when we were still playing island maps made by Blizzard. Map makers, tournament organizers, huge nerds.
