Here is the real problem though.
Smash 4 has a lower viewer to competitior ratio, making it a pain in the ass. To make things worse, Smash generally has a higher number of autists, and Smash 4 has a high number of literal children.
Melee has less players, gets more views, and creates more ad revenue. Though it's players are just as autistic, they tend to be older, and there are fewer of them.
Naturally, SSBM is the better game to keep at Evo... If it wasn't for Nintendo wants to see the newer game that still sells. If Evo only does Melee, Nintendo isn't paying for it, and might shut down the stream out of spite.
Still, I don't see how you can keep both Smash games next year. If they don't expand the number of games, and both Guilty Gear and Killer Instinct stay on, that means that Blazblue is going to steal a slot from Melee. Smash 4 has shit viewer numbers for the amount of hassle it's players are, so why not bring MKX back for another run?

This was a big topic even last year. You have to remember, 90%+ of the people attending EVO are just normal people with regular jobs. It's already a lot for people to get EVO days off (Thursday-Monday typically), if they started on Thursday people would have to arrive on Wednesday.
