It would be hilarious the center of the galaxy is a portal to another galaxy, where everything is reversed; where there's some dark force that's rapidly spreading and you must craft even better gear to escape as fast as possible into true inter-galactic space.

In what is LITERALLY a No Man's Sky.

reposting because I've still got caffeine in me

prove NMS will have more depth than this when you're "learning" an alien's procedurally generated language
>>
>>345304862
The sentient alien factions are static, not procedural, so I'd guess that the language is also static.
>>
>>345305068
any decent info on the actual language system?

I'm stuck on this because it's the only potential depth I've seen to the game that any of the shills have actually brought up. Everything else has been shown in videos or behind the scenes to be a puddle.

Way I understood it, you learn aliens languages by either finding monolith of that civilisation and interacting with it, or by talking with the NPC of that faction. As you can see in pic related there's an option to directly ask him to teach you a word, and it's possible to pick bad choices resulting in him getting angry and not interacting with you anymore.

The last of humanity
>>
>>345305159
No, other that you can discover words by finding alien relics, and I *think* you can gradually learn their language by attempting to communicate with them (potentially making them hostile, happy, etc., depending on their culture).

I honestly don't care for it. If the concept of exploring procedurally generated alien worlds, which is the main draw of the game, doesn't appeal to you, I'd just give it a pass. The other stuff seems like icing on the cake, so to say, so I doubt there will be much depth there.

>Instead of exploring out into the center of the universe as fast as I can, I'm going to go to find a nice a planet and study everything I can about it.

>I'm going to look out for food chains and animal behavior. Prey and predator relationships. The whole nine yards. I want to be able to see at a glance what an animal is doing and why. The moment I can accurately know how a planet's ecosystem works I'll move on to the next nice and interesting planet. I'll be a scientist instead of an explorer.

>While you're all out there conquering the universe, I'll be isolated on a tiny spec of dust, looking at a spreadsheet on my second monitor and making notes on animal behavior. Yay.
>>
>>345305546
Reddit really is a cesspool on autism.

I wanna play that game but fuck, how are people expecting so much from it? At best you'll get behaviors as complex as "This is a predator that comes out a night" or "This is an herbivor that moves in pack", you shouldn't expect more.

>The centre of the galaxy is a black hole that leads to another galaxy

Oh wow, with another 500 billion planets I bet. I'll never stop playing this game, it'll literally be my life.

Has there ever been a game with MORE content for only $60? I think not!
>>
>>345305546
This. Gonna go full space-biologist. Cataloging species is the shit.
>>
>>345305376
welp, nevermind then
back to waiting for a final word on how multiplayer interaction works

>>345305524
the exact way you're speaking to me sounds like a commercial but I'll bite

starbound already has $15 from me, and this game a) offers no substantial improvement and b) actually lags behind in some areas

I would be more enthusiastic if NMS were $15, or even $20, but the things it's visibly offered don't justify its price tag

I'm not going to stop you from spending money. Maybe the lens flare and bloom just collided perfectly to make this your cup of tea. Just remember that you don't have to move on to the next big thing on impulse, especially if there are already things with more depth and content in the market already.

One of the biggest incentives to moving to newer games that don't improve anything is just to stay relevant to your friends. This is effectively singleplayer until people start datamining and figuring out what the fuck is going on, so that's a moot point. I'd honestly just suggest saving that money for when something with substance comes out.

>no multi-person ships
>can't fly around with five friends and go on wacky space adventures
More space games need multi-crew, it's always the best thing

Are they seriously going with the same model for every sentient alien you meet?
They're all television screen heads in shitty outfits

Kek, I don't have any friends anon.

I never bought Starbound simply because it was 2D. Not because I dislike 2D as a whole, but because games that are 2D just don't have the same potential as exploration games specifically as 3D, simply due to lack of visuals, potential variation, and freedom, as well as simply not being immersive, all of which are important in the genre.
>>
I really really want to play this game but I doubt it's worth full price and thus don't want to pre order it (Steam).

Also, I'm guessing this game will play better on a HOTAS? Or is it basically built for the PS4 controller?

I bet animals just wander left and right and don't actually eat other animals or plants but just have generic eating animations.
