Unless CDPR is carefully monitoring, and the folks behind it are doing it with care and passion for the series, it could flop badly.
Also , imo atleast, they should rather adapt the source , aka the books. As hard to read as they are sometimes, I think it could be a good idea, or to find a common ground with both.
I mean, its what they did with Metro 2033, which has a movie in development as well.
