I said maybe because it's my opinion, sorry if that offended you so much. Direct Hit is generally unusable by shitters because of the reliance on proper leading/aim, and that's why I call it underrated. Perhaps not necessarily because it's seen as weak, but from a skill perspective not many players take the time to learn to use it. Call it whatever you want, but I meant to depict it as borderline underrated.

You just need to deal damage to fill the charge on it. Just play very cautiously and just chip away at people far from you, then go back to sniping. If somebody gets too close, take our the Cleaners Carbine, hit the charge, and blow them away.

Sniper just one shots you with sniper.
Shotgun on Heavy.
I use the sandvich most of the time. It's upsides are too good to not use. Healing teammates especially.
But running the shotgun is an absolute godsend sometimes. Being able to safely retreat and shoot back is valuable. Especially against Soldiers and Demomen. Having a Heavy in your face tends to not end well for a lot of Soldiers. Second, it can really help against enemies who are retreating themselves. The Heavy isn't fast, even when unrevved. But you're gonna be faster when you pull out the shotgun, there's been a few times where I've been able to finish someone off before they were able to round a corner out of site.
