Can someone explain to me what they're looking forward to in the game?
Because all I see is a bland, empty overworld with weird haircut guys who randomly run around and kill innocent animals with giant swords and shit. It maybe worked more in an abstract way in the earlier RPG's but with this kind of realism they're pushing for it just looks silly.

-The characters, especially Noctis really grew on lots of people that have waited the game for years now. They're anuthiong but emo/gay or wathever they look like.
-This is probably one of the few games that will probably do the story heavy AND open world combination right.
-The technology. It's so tech heavy, this is the reason why they stuggle to optimize it on console. It's going to be glorious on PC. Very impressive, especially for a JRPG.
-The journey. This world is big, very big but it's a realistic kind of big. The whole game will feel like a road trip, as a big fan of Skies Of Arcadia, i want to drive miles and miles in a big ass world and pull off and explore the areas if i wanted to.
-It's unique. I mean, it really is. Everytime they show it, there's a new big thing to learn about the game. It's an RPG with deep but complex combat mechanics in a big world ran by a heavy story with huge ass cities to explore and God Of War'esque set-piece fights.
It's been only 2 years i'm waiting for this, i read every bit of info and try to not overreact to their shitty marketing decisions. Game looks exceptionnal, hope i like it.

In the early Versus days, i didn't like the overall presentation actually.
It looked like they were trying too hard on the muh dark story thing and the combat looks SO soapy, like a dumbed down KH gameplay.
Now i see more subtle things and the gameplay while not being well portrayed in the Platinum demo (it was shit, imo) is pretty much it's own things and has lots of potential showing.

It was. The only reason FFXV is even on the Xbone is because SE made a deal with Microsoft before it was released to have three of their own games published on it. If they never made that deal, FFXV and Kingdom Hearts 2.8 would be PS4 exclusives.

Why I like it:
- I like linear games. I also like non-linear games but sometimes I just want to sit down, controller in hand and be taken on a journey around beautiful environments without having to worry about hundreds of points of interest.
- FF always manages to pull off that mix of science fantasy in a way other franchises can't. It's unique. It's good at it.
- I want a big budget story-driven game. I'm starved for them right now.

They've basically said there's optional hunts and espers to find in the open world. As well as random enemies to fight. So not that different from FFXII, just in a bigger world. But they've also said that you can just jump in the car and avoid almost everything. When given the choice, most people will just avoid things, even if they like exploring.
As for me, I absolutely hated hunts in FFXII. So if that's all there is to do on the open world, I'll hate the game.

With this game, the only character that looks anime is Luna, everyone else looks like they have realistic facial features. and yes, Noctis does look like he could be half-caste. Which could be interesting considering Lucis is supposed to be like Japan and they used to have a heavy yakuza theme. I think it would be cool if his mom was asian, but I doubt it.
It would kinda make sense that the "purest" Lucis heir looks asian compared to the other white looking characters considering the Japanese influences on the crown city.

Back when this was Versus XIII I didn't really care for it. The whole "modern fantasy" thing didn't sit well with me I guess. Even when it was rebranded as XV I thought nothing of it.
Then more recently as I learned about it being about bros on a roadtrip and tried more of the demos I started getting into it. Don't necessarily think it'll be mind blowing, but it looks really fun.Plus it'll help kill time until Persona 5 comes out in the west

I also thought the city looked more western in the trailers for the movie, but originally there was heavy Japanese influence (the royal family and circle operating like the yakuza, city being modeled after Shibuya etc) and in the anime Prompto's neighborhood looks literally like Japan.
So it might still be in, or they may have changed it for the movie to appeal to the west.
