I just started playing this.
Why when I aim at something with my pistol (I'm on the first level) does a crosshair appear really wide, around the main crosshair, and then it closes in REALLY SLOWLY. I have to just sit there and wait until it closes in and my shot is actually accurate? When I shoot people before it's finished closing in I seem to always miss?

First, play with GMDX instead of revision. It closes really slowly because your skill in whatever weapon you're using is low. I recommend you focus on only one or two weapon skills at the start so you can hit targets much quicker.

It's like the Complete mod for Stalker, shitty and has way better alternatives. GMDX on the other hand not only provides plenty of fixes (guard AI, you can reliably headshot people with any weapon now, so on) but also bonus things like perks that really help with the gameplay. As one example, JC can now hack things from a distance if you unlock that, which is fucking amazing.

Do a vanilla run first. Grab Deus Exe and either the enhanced opengl renderer or the direct3d10 renderer, install any recommended vcredist files (else nothing works).
Revision is buggy as fuck and doesn't add anything useful. Unless you think walls and trinkets are useful.

When you say "redesigned" are we talking completely new maps, or just some minor edits to maps while overall it remains the same? I remember Revision had a redesigned Unatco HQ, along with a variety of other new maps that were all very much new but extremely flavorful of the old.
I played Revision (after many playthroughs of the original, mind you) and I'm very interested in what this new mod brings to the table, but all I ever see are just posts saying that it's better without going into much detail.

Guns and melee in this game are both broken. It takes forever to line up a shot and bullets do laughable damage.
