End of a franchise.
Killed everything good about the first 2 games.
Atmosphere changed from horror movie to Disney animated film
Pretty much removed everything they were working on up until the final release

It really isn't. D3 exist only as a pve ladder(grifts). There is minimal to no grind to get gear or levels. If it somehow hard or time consuming for you to get either gear or levels, you never played on higher difficulties.

Note: that doesn't mean the grind is fun or interesting, but you need to keep stacking those .5% bonus health and damage increases so you can clear the next tier of rifts and upgrade your gems so you can keep repeating it over and over and over again.

part. As most sane people know, any game can be boiled down to a skinnerbox and therefor i don't take it as a valid argument.
I've put maybe 400-500 hours into D3 since it was originally released.
It's not a game I play regularly or consistently (there have been months and months where I haven't touched it at all) but it's a good game for chilling out while you listening to podcasts or watch movies/TV shows on a second monitor.
It doesn't require a lot of thought or skill, but it's just rewarding enough to keep you entertained to continue grinding for gear to try out a new build or to improve your rift time.

RoS was a very, very expensive patch with a six hour campaign tacked on.
D3 was an absolute shitmess from start to finish. The over simplication of the stat system meant that the only thing you cared about was DPS. There was no variety in class builds. The RMAH was interesting in theory, but the MBAs couldn't help themselves and shit the bed. The writing was a hollow shell of what you got in D2.
It doesn't help that the PR around the initial release was abysmal.

No there are not, but that one set that has thousnd % dmg bonus will make you very vulnerable to dmg and is somewhat hard to play.
Something to consider: Disgaea games let you get millions of HP and deal billions of damage because they're parodies of the genre and being able to deal that much damage is ridiculous to the point of being comedic.
Diablo 3 completely unironically has you doing billions of damage.

It's fun game for a week every season. The team that keeps the game running ads something new ever season, new sets, some new items, give a balance update, sometimes add new areas and quests. The game engine gets no updates other than stuff like the file format update that all the blizzard games got.
They started to make the game engine in 2004, when the game came out in 2012 the engine was already ancient and had been in development for way too long. The same thing still runs the game. I don't think they want to do another expansion on this same engine.

Thought it was worse than the base game to be honest
/v/ kept telling me how the expansion changed everything. So I decided to start fresh and go through the game and the expansion. I made a Monk and played on the difficulty which was just below Torment 1 because everything on Torment 1 was dying far too slowly but I wasn't dying to it because they've changed health regeneration in such a way that from level 1-60 you're almost unkillable. So I hit 58 when I finished killing Diablo and I had a reasonably good time. Then I played the expansion. Everything was so dark, dreary and miserable. I get that the city is supposed to be under attack but really this level of dread just added to my boredom. The streets of Westmarch are colorless, hyper linear and just plain forgettable. I can't even remember what happened in the latter half and I only played it a couple of months ago. It was completely unappealing and legendaries were dropping at a rate so ridiculous there was no sense of accomplishment and by the end I was wholly unimpressed and dissatisfied. Even Legacy of the Void didn't have a story or world design this derivative and that's saying something because that game fucking sucks.
I suppose if you were just in it to farm gear and gain paragon levels for the sake of having a dungeon crawler to play you might be happy.

Though, what it lacks is performance fixes, and good optimization overall.
