REDUX versions are the console ports, optimized and customized for the console platforms.
Graphics are downgraded, AI dumbed down to blind and binary on/off level, lots of traps and shit are removed in 2033, you get more ammo than usual, weapons have less kick, and Ranger Hardcore difficulty is a paid DLC.

Lighting was downgraded and some models in 2033 were changed making it pretty inconsistent. They also imported the way LL handled weapons into 2033 so you can't select knives or grenades anymore and they're just quick use items.

2033 Redux is running on the same version of the 4A engine as Last Light, so it inherited all the changes made from the first game. This includes the lighting, stealth, and AI, among other things. People like to blow it out of proportion a bit but it usually comes down whatever you played first.

What's wrong with those death animations/ragdolls? They actually look a lot better than what I remember from LL where they would ragdoll but then jump around as their equipment fell off their bodies.

I bought it last night and am enjoying it enough.
I feel like it could he scarier though. Anons warned me that the atmosphere is different from the original, so that's probably it.

They often fall in the wrong direction and ignore invironments while looking the same.
Repetition in death animations is fucking awful, also often look like they play at 30 FPS while the game runs in 60 FPS, reminds me of Bioshock.

Stalker SoC had it in 2007 and most of 4A are people who worked on that game, at least the people who initially founded the company.
I think it's pretty weird how ex-Stalker devs haven't been able to live up to Stalker. We have a linear corridor shooter, a F2P multiplayer FPS, and a poorly optimized puzzle game where you can't even rebind controls.

I never noticed that, that's really neat.
I knew there was a reason why I prefered 2033 to redux, I never noticed how they removed so many small details.

There's no point in getting original LL since the damage is already done there by default. Redux of LL is actually better in this case.

Still never got the staring trick to work. I eventually just started chucking grenades at them every playthrough, since I almost never use them otherwise.

You just need to stop moving when a librarian sees you and stand as still as possible. The layout of the room you're in can interfere with its AI though.
I just realised how much i fucking love gunplay in metro.
