Not really. The only way I can comfortably hold it is if I don't have my fingers on the shoulder buttons, which I need to for most games.

Your hands works. I usually rest my elbows on chair arms too.
I have a habit of holding the stylus in my right hand while also holding the 3ds (XL) and boy are the hand cramps real.
