JP Zelda II is even crazier than the EN version. That's because the level up system in that game has no EXP stacking. You can choose to level up one stat over and over, and do like a Danger Mario run through the game.
The only catch is that in the Japanese version, when you die in the game, you die for real. I mean that Link's stats all reset to the lowest of the three. So if you do a Danger Mario run and you die, you go back to 1 ATK.
