DON'T BUY THE NES CLASSIC

Build your own

Kodi v17 (Krypton) will be released later on this year and will support RetroPlayer

Kodi will then support Game Addons, including Libretro emulator cores ( http://www.libretro.com ). Game Addons will make retro emulators easily accessable to to everyone using Kodi

>not making your own portable emulation console based on retropie.

emulates 32 different consoles and some home computers

3d printed case, runs on a 13600mAh Li-ion pack. built in charger. wifi and bluetooth functionality to manage roms or hook up an additional gamepad. hdmi out to connect it to a tv, usb power out to charge cellphones with, buttons and shoulder triggers are microswitch based, D-pad circuit board cut out from an old atari gamepad, using its rubber domes and a custom printed D-pad.
super comfy to play with, very responsive and accurate controls, just beaten super metroid with it.
Large.
Built for manly man hands.
Can be used to inflict blunt trauma.

Does Nintendo expect grown adults (the ones who grew up with the NES and are most likely to buy this) to sit right up next to their 30-60" TVs? What year are we in again?

They at least went through the trouble of using a modern AV connector (HDMI) instead of composite RCA. Why not also provide the convenience of wireless controllers?

It's just a front end to launch games through an emulator that does things like scraping a database for boxart/game information. It works with retroarch so whenever you click a game on the menu it will launch directly into game and you're ready to play.

Well the system can apparently access the VC store to play other NES games. So I imagine someone will make a website you can go to that softmods it and lets you just run an NES emulator on it or will let you download every other NES game on the VC store for free.
>>
>>345225725
>Okay so I'll download the emulator to put beside my TV

Does /v/ seriously not understand nostalgia and normies?

Most kids who grew up on the NES are between 32-42 right now. The older kids and adults that played it are even older.

A lot of them are no longer as technically inclined or into gaming as they used to be, they probably have less free time from having careers and possibly kids. So emulating or making emulation boxes is out of the picture.

This kind of person wants something they can plug into their TV and play, show their kids the games they played, maybe play a few minutes of it when their buddies come over and go nostalgic over it.

It's also perfectly priced for a "Don't know what else to get them" Christmas present - it's not a ton but it's a unique enough gift to be remembered.
