I prefer VC but SA is definitely better overall. Theres just so many different things you can do.

Nostalgia is a great factor in determining the greatness of older games, I love San Andreas, played through in excess of 20 times, but I can't deny that some mechanics are lacking by today's standards
no autosave (I think there's a mod for quicksave though), shooting is a bit mundane, the graphics have aged like milk and most cars are a bit to quick to blow up
but I digress, I love this game and probably won't stop loving it, as for it being the best GTA, it very well may be
Played it the day before it came out. Guy at Gamestop gave it to me a day early.
Was everything I had hyped it up to be at the time. Spent the entire summer of 2005 playing it endlessly.
Easily one of my all time favorite games.
Not even good due to nostalgia. I gifted it to a friend 2 years ago and they dumped 200 hours into it, just exploring a fucking around.
Said they loved it more than V because it was just all around more crazy and less serious, and the humour wasn't so forced and tryhard.

Probably when the series hit its peak. Playing through the SP for the first time was awesome. It was huge compared to any of the other games, the crammed so much in. An epic in the true sense of the word.

Yes, without question. VC is a close runner up but I feel like it aged way worse outside of the setting, music, and characters.

on consoles, San Andreas is the best one by far because VC and 3 don't have manual aiming.
overall the amount of content in san andreas is still impressive even if it was just gimmicky shit like car tuning and hydraulics and shit.

Liberty City Stories has framerate issues though on both PS2/PSP
Vice City Stories is buggy, but the framerate is OK on PS2

Yes. I don't know how many hours I played but after completing it multiple times while always fucking around every playthrough, playing co-op and doing side content I kept on playing almost every weekend with my cousin even after the xbox 360 came out.
I'm guessing in total I put in about 1500-2000 hours into it without ever playing online.
