All the pikmin games are good, but there's always banter between pikmin 1 and 2 fans.
3 is generally agreed to be pretty good but not the best. I guess it won't kill you to start with 3.
Be aware that the best control scheme is using wiimote+nunchuk while keeping the gamepad as a map+shortcut.

I was mostly joking, but I do think it's the weakest.
I think that the caves completly destroy the point of the Pikmin formula: limited time for the day and a deadline.
I also think that the atmosphere is all kind of fucked up. for example in the first one you discover thing with Olimar as he progressively write his journal while in 2 there's an annoying robot following you everywhere.
Switching characters and more pikmin types is neat, but it got even better in 3 anyway. I admit I miss the Kacho.

Smash 4 is great as a multiplayer game, but it's lacking in single player features compared to Brawl, and maybe even melee (Most of 4's single player are just returning features from Melee in the first place rather than new stuff, and even though there's some new, it also loses others like break the targets and Adventure mode).
I would have to say Metroid considering Tanabe had to personally talk to the fanbase during a direct to convince everyone that Federation Force is worthy of being part of the Prime series.

Tropical Freeze, ALBW and 3D World are in the top 5 of their respective series. Smash 4 is the second best Smash game, only behind Melee.
Zero and Pikmin 3 are okay, but are pretty weak in terms of the caliber of their series.

Yes, but it was in development for a decade. Most of Pikmin 3 was made years ago and then just polished up. Zombimoto only touched it at the end there, the rest was done by Miyamoto.

Zero wasn't even bad, it just wasn't the Galaxy or even 3D World of Starfox like people expected, probably because there hasn't been a legit Star Fox in years.
