I just bought a New 3DS and put CFW and the whole nine yards on it tonight. The only issue is, what the fuck do I play? I did this mostly for Pokemon X/Y and ORAS, however, I don't know what to do besides that and romhacks.
I mostly enjoy RPGs, especially strategy and tactical rpgs, metroidvanias, and action adventure games. I'll play anything though if it's good enough. Picture related, my 3x3.
Monster hunter my nigga

I'll put that on the list then.
Is the Dong port to 3DS any good? I'm in the mood for some platformers I realize.

Tactial RPGs:
SMT Devil Survivor Overclocked and Record Breaker (+undub) and FE Conquest.
Stella Glow, PXZ2, and Langrisser all seem to be subpar. FE Awakening is really really bad.
Otherwise, there's some SMT games, Etrian Odyssey, Monster Hunter, Pokemon, zelda albw, and some ports. I think there's ports of cave story and shovel knight, someone let me know if those versions are good.
I'm looking for 3ds games too, this is all I could find that seemed OK.

The port of shovel knight is solid but i dont think it has any dlc besides the amiibo
>>345193160
My collection.
Summoning up strength to start Etrian Oddesy at the minute. Enjoying Tetris desu at the moment, not played it since OG Gameboy.

And in typical fashion forgot pic

Thank you Anon. I've heard the Devil Survivor series is a must play for any SRPG fan. The Zelda ports seem interesting to me, have they changed up a ton? I remember reading Majora's Mask is a lot different now?
>>345194372
I'll keep that in mind. I have Shovel Knight on PC, but, having it on the go on business trips seems pretty nice.
>>345194484
That's a lot of games Anon, any ones you'd recommend the most?
One last bump I suppose.
I got you m8.
1/5 of my collection
2/5
I suggest all of these games I'm posting. I don't like keeping trash, sans the DS Golden Sun.
Missing is Project x Zone 2, which a friend has.
3/5
Shin Megami Tensei is always god tier.
4/5
Try Etrian if you want something different and Dragon Quest if you just want an adventure. Etrian IV and DQV are the best starter installments on the DS/3DS.
5/5
Missing is 7th Dragon III Code VFD and Ocarina of Time 3D.
Ask me anything about JRPGs on the handheld and I got you covered. I'll be lurking this thread until then.

>147 games
>50 of them are JRPGs
How the hell do you find time for that?
>>345196913
Not him, but I own nearly all of those games too. I pretty much have like ~20 hours on each of the jrpgs but finish almost none of them

>>345196673
What you say about Tales of the abyss and Stella Glow?
>>345196913
I'm in the Navy, so whenever our ship goes out to the middle of the ocean there's not much for me to do but sit around and play vidya. It's actually the reason I started playing / preferring RPGs more, because unlike most other games it lasts me a few good days.
>>345197067
Yeah, I had a habit like that too. I got a case for my 3DS that holds 8 games in a pouch and used that as my backlog manager.
>8 select games
>Can't swap any out until all of them are cleared
Really helped move my backlog along.
>>345197119
Tales of the Abyss plays like the Raidou Kuzunoha games on the PS2, where you actively walk around in combat and perform moves and spells. The rest is pretty standard, but you won't be bored by the story.
Stella Glow is a bit harder to explain. It's your average SRPG, but it's really colorful and fun to watch. And for an Atlus localized game, the VA work isn't that bad.
The only good 3DS srpgs are the Devil Survivor remakes sadly.
FE: Fates: Conquest has ok gameplay at least, but is otherwise shit. The other two branches of Fates and Awakening are just trash.
Stella Glow has mediocre, easy, by-the-numbers gameplay with a gross generic anime moeblob plot/cast/art
Langrisser holy fucking shit do not touch.
Project X Zone 1-2 are pure fanservice in mediocre games. If you like crossovers and the companies involved then by all means play them, you'll probably enjoy. I had an adequate amount of fun with them. Otherwise, no reason to pick them up.

>SMT:DS Remakes
These are easily the best SRPGs, but not the best MegaTen games on the DS/3DS.
>FE: Conquest
I thought it was good. Combat was solid, story was a little less retarded than Awakening, and the music was easily the best part about it. I agree with you on Birthright and Revelations though. What a waste.
>Project X Zone
Pic related is what you'll normally get
>>345198065
Oh, I forgot to mention:
Mercenaries Saga 2 in the eshop.
It's fine if you just want a quick TO/FFT wannabe with no real plot or character development. It has an ok branching class system.
>>345198389
I never said Devil Survivor 1-2 are the best MegaTen DS/3DS games, but the only better ones are Soul Hackers and Strange Journey. IV is good but underwhelming. To be fair, I haven't played IVA yet because moon, but it doesn't look or sound any more impressive.
If you say Persona Q I'm not even going to bother replying.
Soul Hackers
OP here at a red light in my car. Thank you everyone for posting so far I'll look more in depth when I'm not on the road. Be safe and keep suggesting.
>>345199585
Hell no. The only Persona games worth playing are 1 and both installments of 2. I don't have time for MUH SCHOOL LIFE crap.
