Haven't seen a Subnautica thread in a while, y'all still playin? Whatchu buildin, where you explorin, what are you running from?
Finally got around to building the Cyclops. Gonna fit it up with tons of storage and resources so I can start going around and building bases far away, something I held off doing until I had everything I needed to make it a snap. Gonna plop a base right on the Sea Treader stomping grounds, shit is gonna be cash.
My little sub can only go 300 meters deep, and I made my base right next to a Reaper.
What do I do.

Make a bigger sub to put your little sub in.
>>345160406
Move your base, unless you like living dangerously. Alternatively, get a pressure compensator.
>get to what looks like the edge of the map with my little Seamoth
>go down
>and down
>and down
>and down
>get too spooked at the nothingness and rush the fuck back to my base trying really hard not to alt+f4

The's the abyss
Later on in the game's development cycle, it's how the devs intend for predators & prey to spawn into the game.
They'll migrate in out of the abyss zone.
Especially Reapers & Leviathans eetc.
There's nothing out there, I presume it's to allow them to spawn in large swarms of creatures in uniform formations that'll then move into their given Biomes without there being collision or pathing errors.

That's fucking spooky as fuck. What the fuck.
>>345161625
Man up fag
>>345162439
oh fuck
>>345160163
Why would you purposely not give your ships lewd names?

So wait, does that mean the world map in Subnautica isn't infinite? This actually gives me hope for the game to one day have as much content as Terraria or at least a similar progression system.
Telling the story of my experience with this game would be a bit embarrassing, but I guess it's understandable since I forced myself to go in blind.
Basically I spent several hours fucking about looking for ingredients for the cutting torch thing. I saw people in threads talking about blueprints, used my natural deductive powers to figure out that the blueprints were in those small money-safe looking items, and figured I had to cut them open.
About five hours later I realized I was supposed to just scan the fucking things.
Now I've restarted my save file to cover my shame. Though, I'm terrified of almost everything, so I never think to pay attention to the contents of what I'm scanning anywhere dangerous. I've scanned blueprints for the mobile vehicle bay and some other stuff, but I haven't got a clue where I found them.
Also I saw one of those big ass things that make whale noises from afar. Everybody says they're harmless but I'm still spooked.
I've been all over the place but I'm seeing very little reason to build a second base when the Blood Kelp zone works so well.

Reminder: Bases don't have to be on the bottom, they can float.
>>345160163
>want to play
>have strict rule against playing early access games
>friend gifts me the game
>still can't let myself play an incomplete game
The suffering is real.

The procedural generation aspect later on will simply just determine the arrangement of the Biomes, I don't think it'll make it infinite.
I've seen concept art for 2-4 more Biomes we haven't heard hide nor hair of, and some concept wildlife.
Supposed to be a Biome with giant aquatic Acid-vent geysers going off that entrap and liquify wild life
Another one with roaming black clouds of soot like cyanobacteria, another one with highspeed aquatic jetstreams.
And there was another one that's supposed to be populated with these aqueous tar like blobs & these like filter feeding carnivorous giant star-fish like creatures.
>>345163047This makes me want to build a base in the void. Sounds like a blast.

At least it's close to release, so you don't have to wait too long.Good move too since they're removing terraforming due to too many issues which probably means pre-release saves won't be supported.
>>345163047
That looks so comfy.
Is there any plan for multiplayer? I wan to run sealab 2021 with /v/.
>>345163047
How do you make it float and have enough hp without the base to build them on?
>>345163419
This makes me happy. Thank you, anon
>>345163783
They probably built a tower of multipurpose rooms and deconstructed everything below the highest room. HP is also fine since you can see some reinforced hulls in that picture.

>/v/lab 2021
>the one guy who will use squirrel sounds to talk
Did they release that performance/terraforming update?
>>345163419
Yeah, I'm waiting on 1.0 to play again. Can't wait since the last time I played was before the water update so there's plenty of new toys.
>>345163463
From what I've read it sound like there wont be for release but they might add it in post release?
But that could change, at the moment it's just a "maybe"
>>345166887
I really want this game to be super successful so they can give it the Terraria treatment and update the game with massive content patches for years to come.
>>345164136
pod 6 will never not be exploded

>That feel when you named your seamoth 'hundley' after the happy cake oven episode.
Anyone down to form a cadre of Martian Knights charged with guarding the sacred red planet when multi-player hits?
