Honestly, the game just needs more of everything. More enemies, more floors, more tile sets, more weapons, more armor, more classes, more floors, more bosses-

The game play itself works, the aesthetic is great but there just isnt enough of anything to keep things interesting past a single or at most two to three play throughs. It doesnt have the variety to keep play throughs interesting that makes games like gungeon, and isaac work.

The focus being moved to loot and acquiring tokens to unlock permanent content to go with permanent death, there's not enough stuff in either category to make up for the shortfallings everywhere else.

Not to mention how certain weapons in both the same category and rank (i.e. level 1 fast curved sword) outclass weapons exactly like them for no reason.

The tone of the writing seems really off kilter with the rest of the game too.

Maybe HBS should have given up on a diet Souls experience and made a platformer with a wider variety of traps, obstacles and architectural features.
