KI only looks better because of the amount of particle effects. If you removed them, graphically it's the weakest. I still think it's the best overall, but without the over the top particle effects SFV is better.

Yeah, I think tekken looks pretty great visually.
But from what I can tell, the less popular franchises actually have the better visuals. Maybe cause they're trying to attract players?
SF doesn't need players to attract money (although I head SF5 was horrible).
All 3 of those look like shit compared to Guilty Gear.
Doesn't really matter though because the gameplay is what matters most in a fighting game. Too bad about SFV.

Thing is, I don't even think readability was an issue until the transition to 3D (see pic), and even then KI looks impressive without it.
I feel that for the sake of "readability" the backgrounds in KOF and SF are bare bones. KI and Tekken BGs look great.

That looks like shit too. The character designs are garbage, the characters clash with the backgrounds, the art style itself looks horrendously generic.
And nothing related to the graphics but the soundtrack is also complete shit compared to XX.

The characters are damn near indistinguishable from the background. On a surface level the graphics look nice but there's so much shit going on, so limited a color pallette (dark and/or muted colors), the characters are so horrifically over designed that you can't see separate one thing from another. All of that is basically a hallmark of modern western game visuals.

Season 1 and two are on sale for $15 for BOTH IIRC. 18 charaxters I think total.
Season 3 sucks so far, unless you want to play as battle to add, halo alien, or gears of war bad guy. Season 3 is just gimmicks so far..
If you don't want a full season's worth of characters, each character is $5. Cheap.

Killer Instinct has no readability problems in-game, the screenshots make it look worse
Everybody has super bright flashy effects, movement trails, particle trails, if you can't see what's happening because it's not cell shaded colors like SF5 something's wrong with you
