To be fair, they are different games that aim for different goals. DMC is about being stylish, but also expects you to not take any damage. Kamiya wanted it to be possible for players to beat DMC1 without taking any damage. Regardless, I still think that there are some good enemies and lots of fantastic bosses in DMC.
Ninja Gaiden, on the other hand, is kill or be killed. There's no time for style, because the enemies are extremely aggressive, but I kinda feel that Itagaki expects you to use healing items and some abusive strategies, because even realizes how hard his games are. I remember in /cgg/ people said using items was normal for Ninja Gaiden playthroughs.I really need to finish NGII

Stuff like the Halo, God of War, Wind Waker, and SotC all got HD remakes on their respective successor consoles. Most of these HD updates are considered to be superior to their original releases because of better framerate, graphics, and/or game balancing. Also games like DMC, MGS, Sonic Adventure, and Jet Set Radio even got multiplatform HD remakes, so they are not even exclusive to a particular console brand. Where would you draw the line regarding exclusivity lists?
