God of War was always been more about the spectacle than the gameplay. If stuff like Uncharted and TLoU count as "moviegames" then so should the old GoW games.
Really, though, the SegaCD is the only console that got flooded with moviegames, and they have largely ceased to be a thing since that failure.

They got stuck too far up their own asses with ciematic elements after the success of Uncharted 2.
They noticed how well regarded some of the choices in that game were, like the constant escalation to a climax with the train section, then followed by a lull with walking around a chill village. Naughty Dog being a pretentious bunch of film wannabes misinterpreted the love for that and thought everyone just wanted more boring walking, talking, and linear climbing segments. Meanwhile they completely ignorr what made it work so well, like the entire first half of the game building to it.
It's obvious if you play Uncharted 3, 4, and Last of Us. So much padding disguised as gameplay in the most shallow sense. It's a shame because the combat in these games can be satisfying.

That's not Naughty Dog. The studio that creates The Last of Uncharted is very different than the studio that created Jak and Daxter. Jak fans owe the "Naughty Dog" of today nothing.
