Im actually playing this games for the first time and im actually having a lot of fun.
not got the chanse to play them back in the day because console fag. Neve been a FPS gamer but this games are something diferent.
so fat ive played Heretic and Ultimate Doom, right now im playing trough Doom II and then Ill jump to Hexen.

Oh yesh Doom64, that one is on the list to. Heard there is a moded version for the PC so you dont have to use a N64 emulator.
Doom 2 is not just the superior Doom, it is possibly the greatest game of all time.
I choose Doom only for the level design.

It's not a terrible mod or anything but there's plenty wrong with it like the ugly-looking gore which feels like a fanmade flash animation, the obnoxious sounds and screen shake, the fact that enemies can just decide not to die and the headshots which make encounters feel plain silly sometimes.

Well no shit it's going to be subjective unless it's talking about the mod's technical issues. Two of those things harm the gameplay though. Headshots fuck up the monster balance far too much and enemies not dying remove clarity from combat for no reason

Seriously, the game had some shit tier level design sometimes. Especially when it comes to the city sections of the game.
I honestly even think that Doom 2016 was better.

E1: 10/10. Perfect and unmatched level design
E2: Some missions were okay, some were shit (E2m6)
E3: 1st half is gr8, 2nd half is boring and not fun
E4: Literally all missions were terrible except the very last one
Doom 2's levels were either great or completely bad. Nothing in between like Doom 1.

Ive just replayed Doom2 cause nothing else to play.
Its still a great shooter and gameplay didnt date. It's still better than most modern shooters.
But stock levels in Doom2 become utter mess with shitty progression and no consistency after like 10 first maps. Final Doom campaign is much better.
