Sometimes something is not more than the sum of it's parts, it's less.
And enough of the blatant shilling. After the game is out and people have tried it I'll take a look at the response but I'm not fucking buying a game on nothing more than a vague promise.

>>345117150

Never ever, especially not for an exploration game.
It doesn't matter though; a million naive children will get suckered out of their pocket money by this bait and switch anyway.
>>345117150
in terms of quantity, yes randomly generated content always beats handmade content
If the mechanics are properly built around procedural generation it can work very well, such as arguably Minecraft's survival mode. Mind you Minecraft's procedural generation was incredibly basic (blocky, undeveloped, only a small variance in biomes, only terrain is generated) and NMS' procgen is much more developed.
>>345116578

BUZZWORDS BUZZWORDS EVERYWHERE!
this piece of procedurally generated indie shit doesn't even have 1/100 of the depth and game mechanics of the games you listed.
It's a glorified walking simulator in space, but without the usual Reddit bachelor arts degree story tacked on.

What I pictured was meeting up with a friend based on co-ordinates and journey off exploring stuff together.
I'll retract all once they show 2 players meeting each other. Fuck it, it maybe be true that is huge, but show that in fact this feature is included and this how will look once it happens.

They said you can view another player, but you cant interact with them or know if hes really a player or a npc (unless he does something retarded like shooting the sky for absolutely no reason). That said, its tagged as single player on both steam and gog.
>>345128385
>it looks like it has way too much to do, with no real reason to do it
This. When you say "you can fly to a distant star and land on any planet and find some bug and name it!" I'll ask "why would I want to do that?". And NMS doesn't answer.
I don't want a sandbox, no matter how pretty it is. Sandboxes are toys. I want games.
>>345128252
I know what the game is about I'v seen the gameplay I'v seen how it works and here's the thing I never have expectations of how a game is going to be I take the game at face value which is what has been shown in the vids of it and that's something else I don't do compare it to a game thats not even close to it or compare it to other games at all as it's pointless to do so. And the only boring thing around here is you you autistic fuck.
>have collectors edition pre-ordered
>currently selling for 100-140 USD on ebay
Tempted to flip my copy and just buy the regular edition.
>>345128649
Did they show it? Meeting another player and seeing him interacting with the wild life or NPC's?
And what's the reason behind not allowing interaction? It would add more to the game by allowing to interact with other players. This just removes potential.
>>345128723
Games are toys, bro.
I don't want to play it so I refuse to buy it. These threads are weird af though, I get if people are defending their purchase, it's their money to defend I guess. But why are there so many people attempting to convince people to play it, it's not like having other people play it will signifcantly influence your play experience, so why try and convince them to play it if they don't want to?
I pre ordered it because I know I'll find it fun. It's casual and you go exploring looking for random shit and documenting planets/animals.
I can definitely see how it won't appeal to a lot of people. Its directionless (people seem to need to be told what to do), probably not too much combat thrill and the multiplayer is sparce.
Not to mention the proceedural generation thing. The gameplay seems to have shown good variety but that stuff can get repetitive, fast, if done incorrectly.
Here's to hoping it's good.
>>345116578
>cross between shit, shit, boring shit, shit, and stillborn shit
I want a cross between two actually good games you shill
Since you can do literally anything I can wait to make a shota-run space zoo for my colorful antelope collection
>>345128875
It would add more alright more autistic fucks like you turning this into the next COD dear god why haven't you fucks killed yourselves yet?
>>345128398
Sorry, I didn't realise this was your hugbox and we weren't allowed to say you're wrong.
>>345128875
I saw a video with a npc in a space station selling you stuff and I think I saw some dude walking in a planet and looking at wildlife, but I dont think ive seen much more than that.
Probably thats the best you can get on interation. Ive read somewhere that the npc have quests for you so thats still open for me.
>>345128723
>This. When you say "you can progress through levels and shoot enemies" I'll ask "why would I want to do that?". And ________ doesn't answer.
That's a retarded argument. Don't give me shit like "I progress so I can see how beautiful the handcrafted levels are, we both know that isn't true.

jesus fuck man why are you so obsessed with cod?
I mean I like fish but you're taking it to a whole other level.
>>345128892
No. A toy is a piece of bullshit you fuck around with as a baby and never touch after your early teen years. Games are defined challenges with rules and goals, suitable for mature people.
>>345129098
please put on a trip so I can filter you dumb kid
>>345129131
well I guess spare interaction makes it more special, but I don't like how they are hush hush about the whole multiplayer. Disappointed there is a lack of multiplayer features.
Trading with a guy who has exotic stuff from distant planets you'll never see
Talk about weird creatures you came about
Team up and explore the next planet
Oh well
I see it becoming boring very quickly
There's no base building or anything is there?
What can you do on the planets beside exploring?
>>345122263
>food analogy
How fat are you to always find a need to relate to food?
>>345117326
Yes they have, there are guns, and a space police enemy that will hunt you down. Some planets have robots walking around that will make sure no body will steal materials. You can kill them but it's like a GTA system where more and more enemies will hunt you.
>>345129251
Story. Goal. Challenge. These are the reasons people normally do things in games. NMS doesn't seem like it's going to have any of those things, unless you count not getting bored to death after going through 10,000 randomly generated planets a challenge.
>>345117760
Dumbest thing I've ever seen. Obviously google is going to search for the thing that's most similar and frequently searched rather than your shitty meme. If I type in "Barnie Spanders" on google, I'm probably going to see a page like what you posted for Bernie Sanders. Please kill yourself, autismo
>>345129123
I'm not wrong
There is nothing to do
There is no direction
Sure, I can fly around to generic planet #95151 and name generic mammal #51313 and go through the pain of learning Al Bhed for the millionth time. But why would anyone want to do any of that?
eat a dick shill

Anything can be toy IE a stick and a hoop.

Tumblr is >>> that way you triggered fuck.
>Land on planet
>Green planet with spongy cactuses and kangaroos
>Leave planet
>Land on other planet
>Red planet with big mushroom trees and green wolves
>Build a base
>Explore the rest of the planet, finding absolutely fucking nothing
>Shoot a green wolf
>Drain some kind of resource from the planet
>Use resource to upgrade base
There you go, I just spoiled your first two hours playing the game. If this sounds interesting to you, then you don't like videogames. Go play your shitty indie walking simulators.
>>345129391
multiplayer exploring could actually be one of the most fun things to come to market
yet they omitted that
>>345116578

IF YOU LIKE A CRAFTED CHALLENGING EXPERIENCE IN VIDEOGAMES YOU'RE A CODFAG AND SHOULD KILL YOURSELF

Apparently the "goal" is to get to the center of the universe but players will probably get bored before they even get to that part.

Scanning animals and plants to upload your discoveries to beacons, so you can get cash
Find relics from ancients civilisations, so far we've seen stargates opening if you have the right weapon and monoliths teaching you aliens words and giving you bonuses if you know the culture of the faction it belongs to
Defending yourself against potentially aggressive fauna/flora and sentinels, which might attack you if you mess up the ecosystem too much
Mine stuff
Blow up the terrain to find more valuables resources or caves
Protect yourself against the environment
Trade
Break or hack your way into a factory to get some new gear

Insecurity. By trying to convince others, they're trying to remove their own doubts that the game will be shit.
Everyone knows the game will be shit, some just refuse to accept it.
>>345129332

So basically video games?
>>345129541
no thanks, but you sure seem to know the way, I suggest you go back there kid

Either not enough time, got in too deep with the engine to include it or just didn't realize the potential

>NMS doesn't seem like it's going to have any of those things
It has, why exactly are you pretending to know about the game if you don't know the first things about it?
