Why not? Can you elaborate?

>Why not? Can you elaborate?
Not enough variety in content, "endgame" just being pushing unbalanced raids that slow your game to a crawl or take a complete shit on you if you didn't build inside a mountain, and mods to "remedy" that are just overpowered addition.

It's on the same part as factorio : if you have pure autism, you'll find many hours in it, if not, one playthrough and you're done.
>>

I paid 30$ back then, which is still the price for it from the official game website and I think its more than fair given the hours I got off it.

I played this game for more hours than some 60$ games I own. although admittedly its due to mods
>>

this is the DLC. basically just 3 different options of "hey if you like the game/universe and care about the dev throw us a couple extra bucks." Seems totally fine to me.

>>345099646
>Just legally dev had to stop saying it will happen
this is not the case, you are allowed to sell your game anywhere and generate steam keys for it after the fact (at no cost to the dev), it's one of steams main features and why so many indie devs publish on steam. It is also how third-party key sites operate (and why sites like G2A got called out by devs).

if you publish a game on steam, you can generate steam keys. This costs you nothing. You can then use those keys as promotions. Scammers will try to convince devs to give them large batches of steam keys saying they are streamers or for giveaways or whatever. Once they have them, they resell them on G2A.

Long story short there is no such requirement made of the rimworld dev and there is no excuse for him backing out of his promise to provide keys to people who bought through him.
>>
>>345098350
>pure autism
then play DF
rimworld is literally LITERALLY just a gimped version of DF that costs $30 where DF is free
>>
>>345100124
>this is not the case, you are allowed to sell your game anywhere and generate steam keys for it after the fact (at no cost to the dev), it's one of steams main features and why so many indie devs publish on steam. Devs can only promise or sell steam keys to their game if it is already on steam.

When the game becomes available on steam the dev is allowed to generate steam keys and include this factor in the sales pitch.

Dev will most likely be able to give steam keys to all those who have already purchased, but valve insisted he stop making those promises until game releases on steam.

This looks like a prison architect workshop mod.
>>
>>345100515

>>
>>345100347
Rimworld has better visuals and controls, which is pretty important to some people. The amount of autism required to play DF is on another level entirely.
>>
>>345100708
Are you the one saying things before like you had a clue what you were talking about? If so, stop doing that.

>>345100569
Because it's way fucking easier and it's basically pocket change. Not using steam is a huge pain in the ass and basically a no buy from me. If you don't understand this than you are far too one way to acknowledge how much easier your life could be. This isn't like human rights or anything, it's a fucking video game.
>>
>>345100347
I'm not actually autistic, I'm autistic to the point where when people use the term incorrectly they are generally referring to people kind of like me. DF is far too autistic (actually for autistics).
>>

Yes it's so hard to be able to just click an icon on my toolbar or type in "rim" to the program search and hit enter. I don't know how I'd be able to live without doing literally the exact same thing but also waiting for steam to connect and logging into my account making my user experience so much easier.
>>
>>345101976
I don't think you really understand the gravity of which you can't comprehend things. If I was basing it purely on the ability to launch a program than of course Steam is not really doing anything beneficial. Good thing that's not even close to why using Steam is easier. I'm going to leave it up to you to figure it out anon. Let's see if you can crack the code.

congratulations.

you are cancer because first of all - you are one corporation the power to make or break games, giving that corporation the power to force shady deals on the developers or completely kill them because they dont agree with the type of content.

Second, you hurt yourself as the consumer because you basically giving them a monopoly on game distribution.

>>
>>345102198

>>
>>345102896
Okay so the way pawns work as far as fighting each other and such goes, everyone has an internal faction.

You'll get random events like a guy falls from space in a pod and is injured. You can capture him and "convince" him "gently" to join you. His internal faction is [Spacer]. A tribal raider would be [Tribal].

The problem with your starting colonists who have arrived via a crashed ship coincidentally having family on the far flung rim world would be to put them in a spacer faction initially and prevent spacers from having relations outside of said faction.

At least that'd be the simple 5 minute solution.
>>
>>345103090
I'm not surprised you gave up that quickly. Enjoy life as a loser. But hey, you'll be one of the best at it anon!
>>
>>345102198
My mistake, I gave you the benefit of the doubt by assuming that you merely had the misguided impression that launching games through steam was more convenient. Clearly your mental handicap is far greater than what I originally suspected.
>>
>>345102232
>giving steam the power to blah blah blah strongarm devs & shady deals
the whole reason I use steam is because they are literally the only platform that DOESN'T do this.

they allow devs to publish wherever they want outside of steam
they don't try to negotiate exclusivity or timed exclusivity deals

the minute they start doing anything to subvert developers' publishing efforts is the minute I'll stop using it, but until then they provide me a good service and they provide devs a good service and that's how free market capitalism fucking works. I haven't given them fuck all for power. Their power comes from the way they behave, and when they behave contrary to that then they will lose that power.

>>
>>345103403
holy shit is that the roadmap?
>>
>>345103134
After thinking about it, I think finding family members on the rimworld probably means that they crashed too and joined another faction

but that would work
>>
>>345103452
Nah the old modder in question got burned by angry forum moderators who were upset he put a donation link on his mod page and didn't link each individual mods donation link there as well. It was an overhaul pack so there were about 30 mods in there.

They eventually banned him because he was resolute that linking the mods were enough.

I saw one of those forum admins mod page recently. He didn't extend that same courtesy he demanded to the modders whos assets he was using for his mods :^)

tl;dr can't wait for steam workshop so neckbeards lose the little micro power they've gotten themselves and a lot of modders feel the same way.

>>
>>345108583
How does that help? I mean it reduces the chance of them dunking your base i guess but there's still a chance. You could just set up your main storage inside, a beacon outside, surrounded by turrets or something and then carry the items you want to trade from storage to beacon.
>>
I'll give it a pirate. But I feel like if I should really sink time into a game like this I should properly learn Dorf Fort.

Yeah, how to avoid item degradation while at the same time not allowing mechanoids to drop right inside your base.....

Maybe a separate room just for trading, not too far out of main base (because hauling is a bitch), but surround exit with turrets.

Items only degrade when you leave them outdoors like a retard. You can have a dedicated indoors trading depot in middle of nowhere.
>>
so what are some good ambient soundtrack to listen while playing preferably one that fits in a snow setting
>>
>>345109697
>You can have a dedicated indoors trading depot in middle of nowhere.
Hauling things to the middle of nowhere is a bitch
>>
>>345109697
>>345110064

Not to mention raiders attack anything colonists build, even if it's not in the home zone.

They steal stuff in A14 too, which means building a depot away from your base is an excellent way to get it burned down and all your shit stolen.
>>
>>345110064
So just build a temporary beacon in addition to the remote one whenever you want to trade your useless crap.

Is this game just a simplified Dwarf Fortress?
>>
>>345118319
it's set in the future so obviously it's advanced
>>
>>345118319
Basically, but it still retains a fair amount of complexity like injuries affecting limbs and success of the operation dictates whether they make a full recovery or have a permanent injury.

It's not bad but I wouldn't recommend buying it now as it's still
>early access
>>
>>345119268
I'm asking because I'm fine with DF's graphics and UI, so whenever a game inspired by it comes out I consider what it has that DF doesn't.

I guess I'll wait for a good sale at least.
>>
>>345119773
The alternate setting is good enough to buy it when it's cheap or the full release comes out. DF uses high fantasy whereas Rimworld is sci fi, so now you had marauders or robots as besieging enemies, and instead of stone and metals you now have electricity and guns.

The game also has random events to spice things up which are quite interesting themselves, for example an alien ship can crash land on the map, and it will only initially have a small effect on all your colonist's sanity. But as time goes on the effect grows stronger and if you don't deal with it then everyone goes insane.

It's got promise and the dev seems to be updating regularly, but whether that will change once he releases it on Steam and becomes a jew remains to be seen.
>>
>>345119773
>I consider what it has that DF doesn't

Unronically, engaging combat.

This game is the greatest Dwarf Fortress learning tool there is, makes so much easier to get into it.
