ITT: Style over substance.
Every single cinematic AAA game released in the past 10 years.
Sure thing.

I was going to post NMH but this is a much better example.
Keep in mind style over substance does not mean something is bad (necessarily).
Soundtrack was better than the game.

Psychobilly is best genre.

Every Metal Gear Game since MGS

Media Molecule
This a year from now.

Name me a porn star who looks like her.
Pretty much all the games I can think of tend to have both style and substance
Hotline Miami 1 and 2
No More Heroes 1 and 2
Fighting games tend to be either both or neither, it seems

Your mom lol

Every Japanese game
Persona 5
Has Suda51 ever made a game (besides Lolipop Chainsaw) that wasn't worth playing?

Lollipop chainsaw is fun for a play through. The combat isn't deep but it's tolerable. I really like all the character, the 80s aesthetic and the dialogue. It's style over substance the game really.
Every Suda51 and Tim Schaffer """game"""
>>345099061
I would have enjoyed it a lot more if the levels didn't go on forever.
>>345092737
I love NMH but never touched Killer is Dead. Do they both have the same sort of style?
>>345096593
That's not fair.
>>345098886
NMH2 is a terrific game and definitely worth playing, but misses a lot of the charm from the first one. It has more substance than the first game but took a drop in style. In my opinion.
>>345099293
Pretty much. Generally if you liked NMH then you'll probably like KID. It's on PC now so maybe pirate it and see if you enjoy it I suppose.
>>345091896
I didn't think it was that bad outside the Boneyard, QTE fest bosses, and the plane section
>>345099115
>>345099061
I feel like the style could have been even better though, especially for a Suda51 game. It's not bad and can be fun, but compared to his other work the gameplay isn't great and the style doesn't make up for it as well as his other games could.
>>345094282
Tearaway for sure, but not LBP.
>>345092361
is it any fun to bother playing?
>>345091896
>tfw you will never fuck Eliza Dushku
>>345096593
but it has no distinct style, its very generic albeit good quality
>>345100643
yes
>>345098886
Lollipop Chainsaw isn't a Suda 51 game, it's a Grasshopper Manufacture/Warner Bros game that has Suda's name on it for marketing purposes. He hasn't actually "made" a game in years
>>345096593
>textbook xcuck asspain
Devil May Cry?
>>345101993
No no, Devil May Cry 2 and DMC maybe but not the good ones.
>>345091896
Literally every "AAA" game made in the past 10 years
"Style over Substance" might as well be the video game industry's motto these days
>>345092361
I thought the same about thia game as I did Viewtiful Joe.
>>345102379
Just because it has more of a focus on cutscenes/story and graphics doesn't mean it has more style. The Metal Gear Solid games don't have style, but they have a lot of cutscenes and story. Style is all about the visual and the graphics and the way the designers present this to the player.
>>345094235
but mgs has the least substance
>>345099061
them unlockable costumes alone were worth the money.
game is dirt cheap nowadays and i must have played through it about 5 times just to unlock the great costumes.
>>345099061
Lolipop Chainsaw's gameplay is fine, just a little weird.
You are supposed to play it using the stun on groups of enemies to only then slash through a bunch of them and get sparkle hunting bonuses, but most people just spam the chainsaw attacks.
Arkham games.
Although style is debatable.
I'm okay with style over substance provided the experience is sufficiently cheap enough.

Most AAA games lack both to he honest familio
