Honestly, a fantastic game for the first month. I played with a friend for a little over two months. If you aren't playing with a friend, it'll definitely be a lot more of a grind. It also falls off hard late-game and even getting to max level will feel like a struggle, especially when you know how bad the grind is once you're there. The first month is lots of fun though.
The dungeons are fun and fast, the bosses are decent, and the gameplay feels solid. The quests are completely utterly forgettable in every way, but the zones will stand out and visually everything is very appealing.
Brace for IMMENSE RP-faggotry though. As well as numerous, numerous neckbeards playing lolis pretending to be literally 12 years old and always talking "in character". It honestly scared my friend quite a bit. I didn't give a fuck though.Even had one as a casual fuck buddy until he slipped up and "confessed" that he wasn't who he said he was. I told him he's a fucking moron and that I knew the whole time but he blew getting free shit from me because now the illusion is broken. I pretty much spoiled him with $40 gifts every week.

Did they change something? Because back when we played this was certainly not the case. We rolled as a tank and dps (gunner). I recall both of us hitting max level by the end of the first month and after trying to get geared in a weak excuse of an "end-game" for a solid month we quit.

It really depends on what class you're playing. Berserker is all about charging up your attacks to unleash fuckloads of damage once you're all charged up. Most other melee classes have instant skills or skills that lock them into a preset animation for small amount of time.
PVP is pretty fucking fast though.

BAMs have taken no work since before fate of arun like 2 years ago. When they shifted away from noctenium content and reaper came out shortly after.
BAMs are nothing short of a joke now, a mob that required either a skilled player or lancer to kill for 5 minutes takes 30 seconds now and is soloable with no gear.

Yes. The leveling aspect of the game has been completely changed. Normal quests don't even appear on the map or on the NPCs any more. They're there. You just can't see them. You can level almost exclusively with the main story quests now.

Don't even worry about levels, the game doesn't start until you reach level 65.
From level 1 to 65 is just a big tutorial on how to use your skills. After that you need to learn specific combos for your class. I played zerker and had to learn how to properly knockdown someone to death before doing any kind of PvP. And as for PvE, you can get the best gear possible, but little mistakes kill any sort of hope of clearing a dungeon.
I reached the best endgame sets back when I played, and was saving up for the set of next update, but then I got bored of the whole thing and dropped it.

As for the no world thing, I can give you that. Personally do not mind with how fun the combat is. Parties/raids are a great time, too.
Basically, if you want more strategic, in-depth combat, Vindictius is the height of MMOs right now. TERA is a step down in combat, but has exploration. I'd put Guild Wars 2 on the same level as TERA with the caveat of honestly needing to pay for it.

Also why would you play an MMO (which Vindictus isn't but is classified and treated as such) that revolves around solo play when you could literally play any action RPG and get a better experience? Vindictus literally has no reason to exist. I mean, tell me, why would I play Vindictus over Dark Souls? DS has better combat, better RPG elements, better challenge, don't have to pay extra for options, etc.
As such, the game will always be shit, because it serves no purpose.

It's not fun to gear grind in vindictus. It has that bullshit your weapon can break after getting to middle levels of enhancement. You're forced to pay after that or get shunned by the countless elitists that demand you have capped attack for content 10 levels below cap.
The game only makes sense if you play, quit a while and wait for the returning player freebies to kick in, then play back again for the free +10 ticket + afk ap.
Id play this game if 99% of the playerbase wasnt composed of loli character and fat neckbeards erping.
