If you just started playing, then the best weapon to take down those snipers is your own sniper rifle.

Use the first assault rifle (not the rotten mound) and set it to single shot. It's accurate like a sniper rifle and can be used to kill them but it can also be used to spray and pray against large groups. It's a little boring way to play but it will help you get to grips with the weird way enemies spawn and where they tend to come from.
Research the Vitality Converter as soon as you can and then buy it from the medical guy in temple hq. When you get the hang of using it + your Medkit you can have mostly unlimited energy + health.
Also don't ignore your illusion creating psy powers. Even if they only survive a second it can be enough to get the massive amount of enemies to stop focus firing on you alone and spread their damage.
Make sure you look for secrets too.

Dying a lot reduces your stats, certain researches cure it and return your stats to what they were meant to be. No idea which ones do this though.

If you're shit at playing EYE (and consequently get fatal wounds) you get to save some skill points which allows you to maybe salvage your character if your build was not up to the task.
Respeccing is called "starting a new character".
If you're autistic and need all your characters to be maxed out and optimized, you won't mind grinding. If you're impatient and don't want to grind, use a farm map or stop giving a shit about your character being maxed out and simply start over with a build that you find more fun.

It's not meant for early reroll, you fucking moron. It's just to switch builds in endgame or unfuck shit you did early on instead of rerolling another character, leveling it to 100+, and waiting ages for all the researches to finish again. And that's if you use the farming map which you're not really supposed to. Otherwise you also have to farm for researches.
There's isn't anything particularly unique about characters you create anyway, nothing wrong with letting you reshape them at will.

Exactly for that reason. There's no point in forcing you to keep multiple characters that are mostly no different from each other just for different stat distribution. Guess why everyone and their mother is a Gray Master. Nobody wants to bother.

Say, you make a new character. Two leveling options: vanilla grind and the farm map.
If vanilla, enjoy spending spending another hundred of hours shooting DX and Interceptors.
Same options for researches.
If vanilla, good fucking luck getting Necrocybermancy.
If not, you either way have to wait for every single research to finish. Hint: that's A LOT of time.
Then you have to finish the game 3 times again for the gates.
