4 was just trying to be a pretty happy game, and when the drama hit it hit hard because of how jarring it felt to the rest of the game.
3 just constantly piled on the edge and deaths to the point where it didn't have any impact anymore. I can't believe people consider that piece of shit to have the better story, it's complete garbage compared to the subtlety of 4.
