It's a retelling of the original 4 games as one huge story about Classic, leading up to the events in Generations which will get a remastered version with a special ending that will set up the next Classic game.
Modern is being discontinued, just Boom and Classic from now on.

I don't really hate the OVA Sonic, but design wise it's how I see Sonic's Ryan voice over Jason/Roger voice, outdated. This works for Classic Sonic, not Modern. As I see Sonic as Sonic (barring Boom), SEGA stuck with Modern, so that's what I prefer for a anime.

Sonic's personality has ALWAYS been a cocky prick who's impatient and does his own thing.
He hates living slow and hates it when people live life at a slow pace instead of getting up and doing things right away.
But he also knows when to take things seriously, and turns it up to 11 when he's through screwing around.
It's WHY he's the hero that he is, it's WHY he has the attitude he has. He's the one thing standing between horrible calamity and a free future. And I feel like people forgot that that's how he is, because you get these awful writers for the games who write him like some sitcom character or make him a bland "hero" archetype. I'm still continually impressed at just how good this was, rewatched a month ago. It's got a few corny, iffy bits, but it fucking nails all the cool shit about classic Sonic down to a T in style and personality.
