Answered your own question. A lot of people like the story, dialogue, and humor. I did as well. I also enjoyed the really disturbing moments like some of the mutants dropping down out of nowhere or some scenes in the game.

Also, Terry has the strongest move in the entire game when combined with Birdy's Oil Spit. Anyone who's played RPGs knows that characters that start off shitty often times turn into the best. Terry is no different.

Birdie's spit oils enemies up, which is a debuff that increases fire damage taken. Terry has the most damaging attack in the game which is also fire based, so he effectively deals damage for the two of them and then some - a crit is enough to almost one shot certain bosses. He can reliably piss off enemies which prevents them from using one hit kill attacks. He also has a very powerful heal. The only thing he lacks is AoE attacks. Hell, even if you don't like Terry you can sit him out throughout the game and then level upwhen you get to the Wrestling Arena.
