Apparently, don't quote me on this, the game is actually easier on the highest difficulty.
Something about how playing on easy affects the way the game plays, I think I read that you're less accurate and everyone (you and enemies included) has more HP. I could be very wrong though.

on master difficulty all headshots are lethal and you and the enemies dont have much health. its punishing and rewarding at the same time.
on all other difficulties its an atrocious game of grinding down bullet sponges.
