So many fond memories growing up and looking forward to getting my Nintendo Power or PSM delivered in the mail, taking it to school and sharing it with friends, or just reading the magazine over and over until I practically had it memorized. The random articles, interviews, previews and reviews were so much fun to read. Also discovered quite a few gems thanks to them (I'm looking at you SotN and Xenogears). I genuinely miss it. I'm mostly a sonypony, and the multiplat magazine in my country I used to like as a kid is long dead, as well as the Playstation magazine. But there's another that was really good but only for PC/specialized in PC so it wasn't very interesting for me to buy those, but apparantly it's become multiplat (probably to fill the gap).

I moved around as a kid a lot, went to a lot of different elementary schools and wouldn't know where the family would end up because of my parent's jobs, but one constant was the games.
Every time we went to the grocery store I needed to get a game magazine.
I had every fuckin issue of PSM, but no subscription.
Playstation was magic, even moreso because I bought my own as a kid.
Reading these magazines exposed me to a lot of things I never knew existed, cultures or otherwise.
Shit was amazing.
It didn't matter if I'd have to make new friends or not, when I got home my consoles were waiting and I could always read about something new to be excited about.
Didn't matter who the player 2 was, if there ever was one.

There was also a ps2 magazine which only released 3 issues because of poor sales and it had Yabasic gamesaves (i.e. transfering games on Memory Card) on it - the european launch ps2 demo disc had yabasic on it.

This was the most bizarre video game i've ever played hands down. It's so weird i can't even explain it.
The combination of the music, the graphics, and the environments were fucking horrifying in a strange way. The only other game i can think of that made me feel this way was Nightmare Creatures.

Sadly, in quite the bizzaro fashion, the subscriptions are what killed PSM. The subs were so cheap ($12) they couldn't recoup their losses, and they started only packaging the goodies and discs in the newsstand isles.
We tried asking them to make additional subscription tiers with higher cost, but nothing came of it, and they folded eventually. Their Editor in Chief went on to work on Nintendo of America before it also folded later on.
