Fucking this man. The entire time I was playing X's plot I was thinking "Alright they laid a good concept, decent foundation, good set-up, gave us a good cast of characters. When's the fucking plot going to pick up?" For the entire 50-60 hours it took for me to play the main story, the way it was paced and told made me feel like I was still in the beginning hours of the average JRPG. All they did was build and build and build the setting and main characters but the story just went no where. And then the ending just happened so abruptly too. In the final chapter I was finally starting to get intrigued, thinking the plot just started picking up, similar it to how the original started picking up just after you beat Xord. And then the game just ended right there. It didn't feel like an ending, it almost felt like you just got past the first arc or major boss in the first quarter of a JRPG.

I agree, but then it was obvious that they'd go the cliche route and deus ex machina her back into a real girl. That's why it annoyed me with how the game tried so hard to make you feel sorry for Fiora and kept telling you how 'strong' she was. I never bought into any of it. It was particularly evident compared to Melia, who had it much worse and never really had it get better.

The game's fantastic. Better and faster gameplay than the original, although it focuses more on building your player character rather than a team. The main story is...kinda bad, and extremely short, but it excels at world-building and sidequests.

X gives less of a priority on plot/characters/narrative and more on gameplay/level design/exploration etc. It's still a great game, not as good as XC but it's the kind of game where you can just completely disregard the main plot/quests and just go off exploring. Are you referring to the part whereBionis comes back to life and totally annihilates Mechonisand then there's an optional side-quest to craft replica Monado's? If so, seems like it would have made sense to just include that detail as another side-quest. Tedious but at least it would have explained things a slight bit clearer.

It can't be a sidequest though since it's in the ending. Also lumping it with the replica quests is stupid since those aren't nearly as important as getting Fiora's body back. It would have had to be a fully voiced non-optional sidequest - aka it would have just been part of the main story. And since they clearly ran out of time as they got towards mechonis I doubt they had the resources to add something like that.

well I like to think that Alvis himself has no imaginations as he is a machine. He needed to use Shulks memory to rebuild the Monados from it.
So when restoring the universe he probably just mashed the remains of Bionis into a planet and put it somewhere in a universe that's based on the one he knows.
They showed an entire universe being born instead of just that one planet, and the ending hinted at the idea of space travelling.
