You're an idiot. PCs were capable of displaying 256 colors as well as digitized sound in 1987 and had 480p graphics over a decade before consoles were capable of it. To say nothing of the stark difference in memory and storage.

Are consoles to blame for the oversaturation of shooters and straight up action games? There are so many interesting things you can do on PC that aren't first/third person action games, but since those are what plays the best with a controller it's what almost every game is nowadays.

No. Consoles are not to blame. The emphasis on "streamlining" RPGs and other genres for a larger market is the real problem. Nowadays you have to rely on indies for any depth in strategy games and RPGs.

Shooters have been absurdly popular from the second Doom came out, consoles had nothing to do with it. Although consoles are to blame for the "dumbing down" of shooters. N64 shooters still had great gameplay and design even though the controller was trash. 6th gen was the beginning of the end and by 7th gen FPS were crippled versions of themselves.
