If you read the short novella though you find outZero had an extremely rough childhood and became a murderer simply out of self preservation, wanting no one to be able to identify her. She thought it was stupid to leave a kid alive who could later point her out to the police.
Normally when I think of crazy their methods or actions don't have any sort of logic to them.Zero knows shes working against a clock though and its faster just to kill everyone than to try to be nice. I mean why try to talk things out with a bunch of peons when you can just kill them in under 5 seconds?
