>Pirates spend more money in media (videogames, music, movies) than non-pirates
>Pirates generate positive word-of-mouth in a way not possible through regular marketing, making them fundamental for a game's sales
>Piracy forces developers to create games good enough that the average consumer feels compelled to pay for them

When will developers understand that draconic anti-tampering systems like Denuvo are a mistake?

You're kidding right?
>>

the same source as "we are losing money when you pirate games" developers and publishers like to say

>pirates spend more money than non-pirates
Care to elaborate?

On a further note, since I believe drm is more a hassle for the non pirate, and that the industry will never say "pirates aren't thaaat bad, I guess", I think buying games via a platform like gog is the best way to signal you want drm free products
>>
>>344860778
Studies point towards that.

People who pirate stuff really really like stuff.

you probably have a few games on steam that use it and don't even know they do
>>
>>344860901
Citation needed.
>>
>>344860843
but even if they don't lose money because of pirates why would they want to let pirates play their games?
no pay no play, it's simple and fair
>>
>even indie games like Inside are getting denuvo

is it time for us to get a new hobby?

ITT people trying to get over pirates guilt. Just admit your a faggot who isn't able to use his mom's credit card for steam and so you steal everything.
>>
>>344861000

Many studies demonstrate how pirates spend thousands of dollars in media compared to people who don't pirate.

The Torrentfreak article for example has a direct link to the study performed by Ofcom ("the government-approved regulatory and competition authority for the broadcasting, telecommunications and postal industries of the United Kingdom"): http://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/binaries/research/telecoms-research/online-copyright/deep-dive.pdf

Feel free to point out dishonest reporting or methodological flaws in the study.

I pirate everything and those points are bullshit.

I don't spend much money at all. Only when its unavoidable - so basically when I want the multiplayer.

Second point is retarded. Good word of mouth comes from the paying customers just as much as a pirates. If I'm telling my friends about a good game, I'm generally sending them the torrent link.

No pirate honestly pays for the games they thought were good. If they do, they're retarded.
