What does /v/ think of first person non shooter games, or games that let you view things in first person besides the original camera? Do you prefer them over third person games? I think it can be really good for immersion.
I kinda prefer games that let me see my character
I never like first person melee, because judging space and relative distance is so much easier in third person.

That game had such a good combat system. I'm glad it's available on Steam. I might pick it up for another playthrough...

I dont like it for melee. Dodging is just walking away and you can't really use good combos. First person is better suited for shooters or horrorgames

There has never been a good Elder Scrolls game, including Morrowind.

I always prefer first person games. It's just easier for me to really get into it.

Correct

Example of a first person melee game done wrong.

Example of a first person melee game done right.
Bethesda could learn a thing or two from Dark Messiah.
I won't even play a game if its 3rd person. The only exception is GTA.
vomit inducing
Morrowind's immersion is ruined by all the missing in combat.

First person is great for non-combat/adventure games. That's when immersion is really key. Same for horror. RE7, PT, Amnesia, etc. Some amazing things can be done but nobody's really fleshing it out.
Even fucking Gone Homo made me feel more on edge than most recent third person horror games

Sorry, I understand dice roll systems, I do not fucking tolerate an IMMERSIVE FIRST PERSON EXPERIENCE where my weapon passes through an immobile crab's face 20 times in a row with a whoosh sound and not damaging them.
Dicerolls were done much better in KotOR where a miss would change the animation that played to actually visually represent misses.

>dice roll systems
It isn't just the dice.
It is about atributes, skills, race, range of the weapon...
That is the magic of it, can't be everything, have to specialize a bit to be successful.
It is much easier to make a character that is good at combat than to fuck it up.
