>>344852783

>>344852729
Painkiller has some big bosses.
>>344853135
Confirmed big
EDF? Every enemy in the game is bigger than you though.
>>344853845
Sure why not
>>344852842
My friend was just talking about it with me.
We use to play all the time. Shame it'll get no new chapters
>>344852765
>game is Harmony of Despair
I don't know, anon. I don't see a horde of Somas screwing things up, so I'm going to have to doubt your words.
SotC copy with snow instead of sand
looks promising, but who knows
>>344854974
>Indie faggots trying to cash in on an old game idea
So it's the usual? Nothing to see here I guess.
>>344855141
>being mad about getting more games after the original was left to die
you are a non entity.
>>344855141
Why the attitude? It might be good
>>344852729
Oshit what game is this?
>>344855256
I thought the whole point of being an indie was the fact that they're able to make innovative games without pressure from publishers to make it as bland as possible
Don't be fooled, these devs are just rejects who didn't make it in the industry so they are trying to ride on someone else's success. It's going to be shit no doubt about it. Better not get your hopes up.
>>344854851
Fucking soma was the reason the game died
>shit soma is too strong
>nerfs soma
>in the next chapter lets release more soma gear
>shit soma is too strong
>meanwhile Alucard, shanoa, Charlotte and Johnathan were nerfed to the point of being unusable
>>344855431
Castlevania harmony of despair. Good times. Pretty sure it's dead now, though.
>>344852729
Serious Sam has really big bosses
Castlevania Lords of Shadow
God of War 2/3
>>344855463
>success
>game was a critical failure that saw a resurgence years later when people realized it was a good game
Senpai I first heard about SotC when my friend fished it out of the bargain bin at Walmart and bought it on a whim. You know, that big bin with hundreds of dvd's and games that are all like $5?
The whole point of being an indie depends on the indie. You can't make a blanket statement about it any more than you can about /v or human beings or anything.
What independent developers making games CAN do is pursue genres or game mechanics that are too high risk or niche to win an investment and risk assessment committees approval.
There is exactly one game like SotC and it is SotC.
And for what it's worth, my hopes are at "Might be cool".

Also lets look at Stardew Valley.
>Harvest Moon is more or less run into the ground by mismanagement and failure to recognize its strengths
>Indie dev loves HM games
>Indie dev makes HM game
>Market rewards indie dev with sales because he recognized both the strengths of the original HM games and that they were not currently being fulfilled
>>344855752
I didn't actually know it was a failure. That gives me a good old fashioned hipster boner cuz I was excited as fuck about it before it came out.
>>344852729
>>344855752
>I am underage: the post
Looks like you're too young to remember but SotC had a massive marketing campaign and definitely wasn't a commercial failure. You might be thinking of Ico which didn't sell well partly because the studio was pretty much literally who tier at the time.
>>344855935
Only in Nippon
>>344856054
Most of its sales came from the US. It actually did flop pretty damn hard in Europe but that was due to the fact that the game was advertised only in North America and Japan while the EU release was pretty much an afterthought.
