I've read them in Russian(translated by Sapkowski's friend btw) and let me tell you, the style is amazing. Jokes, colloquialism typical for slav bydlo and the manner of storytelling stole my heart. Sure, the plotline and characters don't float everybodies' boat, but slavic translations of the book still have the charm of the original. Frankly, his Saga of Reynevan was the best piece of fantasy I've read in years.

My favorite part of all the Witcher books is at the end of The Baptism of Fire, the one with the wandering storyteller and the children. When the children realize that they won't hear rest of the story until next year, they plead the storyteller to share some details and he does - that way Sapkowski shared some details of the next book with the readers, who would also have to wait a year for the next part of the story. It was a pretty cool move.
Also, the Witcher is one of those books that get much better the second time you read them. There's a massive amount of foreshadowing and call-forwards, and knowing how it all ends makes them easier to spot.
Not gonna lie. The shows are giving me intense Xena/Hercules vibes. I might actually watch them through and try learning some Polish at this rate.
