Nier is a largely shit game with an incredibly obsessive and demented fanbase. IGN's score by itself is actually higher than what it should be.

Feel free to disagree, though it won't change the fact that I'm completely right.

I agree

Nier was too early for its time. Artsy fartsy shit that seems deep and meaningful is what "game journalists" eat up now.

I hate this fucking recent trend where Nier is somehow a masterpiece.
>>
>>344830405
Only if it supports their political agenda.
>>
>Post a Nier thread attacking Nier
>Thousands of fanboys come in angrily arguing it was God's gift to gaming

>Post a Nier thread proclaiming Nier as God's gift to gaming
>Thousands of anti-fanboys come in angrily arguing it was a piece of shit

This is /v/. This is where you choose to spend your time. Contrarian heaven.
>>
Nier is a 8/10 at most.
>>
>>344830161
no, because once that floodgate opens then even less thought will be put into reviews then is now, as impossible as that seems
>>
>>344830161
If some website gave Undertale anything above 4/10 the website should be put on blacklist or marketed as spam in adblock
>>
Unless they made provable factual errors you can't get a review wrong, it's a fucking opinion piece.
>>
>>344830435
>recent trend
You mean the past 4 fucking years?
How long have you been here?
/v/ has actively loved this game easily since 2012.
>>
>>344830161
would you?
>>
Or you could just get somebody who has played video games before for years and be able to judge the game without any agenda beforehand. These "re-reviews" are basically them just trying to fit in with popular opinion and without the publisher breathing down their necks for stating their real thoughts anymore.

Did you post that image to make yourself seem more intelligent?

The sentiment has been around for years. You didn't notice it before, because you probably only learned about the game through its coming sequel.

I don't know what's worst, gaming journalist or you.
>>
>>344830435
Recent? /v/ has always taken games like it (flawed games that attempt far more than they acomplish) and placed them atop a pedestal.

See Godhand for the best example of this.

Who said anything about /v/?

that's your problem
>>

I don't see why they can't EGM used to do it with any release that wasn't pure niche.
At the beginning of the review section would let you know the reviewers, what games they like and preferences they had.
Would let you know what a person who say wasn't a fan of jrpgs thought about a certain game so you could always put things in context about reviews and added an extra level of consideration about a game past the score it got.
It's just a shame that everything in gaming is less than it used to be.
>>
>>344830769
Godhand is not flawed tough? it literally is the perfect video game
>>
>>344831021
Forgot to say in the beginning that they had multiple people review each game with different tastes in games.

Nier is an 8/10 mainly because its gameplay is so by the numbers and the graphics/artstyle are very muddy.
However, it should still be played. The graphics aren't a massive detriment and the game can be cheesed as soon as the timeskip hits and you can buy the Phoenix Spear. At least get Endings A and B
>>
>>344830361
I agree.
>outsource the sequel because you know how terrible your game was

but the first game was also outsourced
